Unless i'm mistaken the list actually loses before the game starts. Your reserves arrive from turn 2, and not having any models on the table at the end of turn 1 is an automatic lose condition.

You have too few bodies for 3k and almost nothing to reliably deal with 2+ armour.

You might benefit from some cataphractii for a bit more survivability as your Line units. Otherwise I'd really try to diversify the list a bit and pull down the average unit cost from the almost 500/unit it currently is.

I really want the cheese of Sevatar and the Contekar in a Thunderhawk but don't think I can realisitically do within 3k so have upped to 3500pts and hopefully enough bodies for turn 1 and anti-armor

If you're going to run HSS give them lascannons. You're never using frag missiles and the thunderhawk is there to rinse any flyers you might come across.

Some thoughts on list manipulation;

I would split the Recon Marines into two MSU squads, drop the Rhino. I would drop the Auguey Scanner and nuncio vox off the cataphractii squad, take the vexilla off the HSS and use those points to put Artificer armor on your power armor sergeants and give them Prey Sight. Then I'd remove the single proteus and maybe fit either a terror squad with rotor cannons or a land raider spartan in. I'd probably cut the claw squad in half, and give them a powerfist or chain fist.

The shooty squad could then also have a Power fist/chain fist added.

I assume some of those power weapons aren't all going to be swords, but if they are, I would recommend some axes for AP2 instead of fists.

Thoughts on overall list;

I think it could be a fun list to try, Night Lords are definitely S tier, especially for Pride of the Legion. Making the list and seeing it perform are two different animals. I would caution the investment if your meta doesn't regularly play 3500. Events sometimes keep LoW at bay along with points restrictions so the first thing to go will be the T-hawk in those situations.

You may want to look at the Contekar set as you get 3 heavy flamers and 2 volkite per 5 models. Your list will require some conversion work or chinaforge bitz to run your list as set out.

Why run a Havoc launcher on a Las dready? wrong weapon mix - drop it and put the points elsewhere

As stated above, for the termies give the majority fists / Power Axe / Chainfist for AP2 hitting.
