Focus of the subject is a bit of positivity. Let's do it, I know we can!

I'll start us off...

Terminators.

I could be done there but I'll elaborate. Everything to do with them. Rules, models, theme of the edition.

Something else I'm looking forward to is Troops having abilities that look useful. Holding objectives and also getting other bonuses is cool. Chaos Marines might not be as fearsome as say Possessed, but they're holding that objective and getting reasonable damage output with it.

So far every Troops on objectives has gained a decent boon. I'm liking this a lot.

I like there seems to be quite substantial thematic differences between the ways many factions work - grey knights Vs 1k sons for example. Much more so than 8th ed indexes.

Battleshock being much broadly applicable, and reducing tactical options instead of killing dudes/running away could be quite impactful.

Allowing T to go much higher for vehicles so we might actually see transports and tanks be broadly viable will be cool. Assault terminators roaring out of landraider assault ramp again would be so cool.

I'm already looking at land raider options for my UM for that very reason. If you're going to get a tank killer might as well get a good one!

I am liking that Troop tax is going away. Instead, they actually have to put some thought into making battleline units appealing in their own right. They cannot compete with more specialised units in terms of raw damage output but so far the special rules they have previewed look like they will go a long way towards making them worthwhile.

Battleshock being a debuff rather than a mechanism for applying extra casualties.

Terminators in Land Raiders

More granularity with both strength and toughness which in turn (hopefully) mean vehicles will be viable again.

Primaris and Firstborn squads no longer being locked out of each others' transports.

Morale. Leadership concerns being relevant in a 40k wargame is something I’m looking forward to a great deal.

I particularly like the fact that battleshock seems to have the potential to impact every faction – no army-wide LD10 or ‘ignores morale’. I also like the fact that it doesn’t seem to remove models – a very binary sense of success of failure – but instead seems to impact models ability to affect the game.

So far, I love the USR, the weapon rules system, and giving every unit special rules to enhance their primary role on the field.

I view favourably the granularity of T/S, contained detachment rules and battleshock interactions.

Also, that they seem to go for what makes the units feel right. Like whether a weapon gives double A or Twin-linked is determined by how dangerous they want the weapon to be.

Overall, despite some missteps IMO, I end up looking at 10th favourably.

The ability to run my CSM as the mechanized raiders they're supposed to be again without it being worse then equivalent points in more bodies pleases me greatly.

I like each unit having a purpose dictated by its special rules and synergy within the army rather than having how viable a unit is determined by how many heavy weapons it can spam.

I like the consolidation of profiles: no longer do I have to worry about digging out more power axe and power fist champions, and even my thunder hammer sergeants from HH are now legal.

Tanks being tanks (hard to kill without anti tank weapons).  Weapons being better/worse at killing things they SHOULD be better/worse at killing (Bolters shouldn't kill a Land Raider). Assault ramps on Land Raiders. Also hope that carries through to Spartans (and they get rules for 10th).

I'm hoping that I'll be able to use the new plastic land raider proteus with assault ramp as a straight proxy for the godhammer land raider, rather than have it cost CP or the like.

Serious nostalgia for this guy (I know it's a bit basic today, but I was like 12 and thought it was the best tank ever)

Tanks, as everyone else has said. Astartes tanks are absolutely iconic for the setting. General downtick in lethality. Removal of wound caps as a crutch against overtuned lethality. Reduced number/reliance on strats. Blood tithe being replaced by Blessings of Khorne that do not require book keeping. Removal of psychic phase. Morale mechanics that aren’t a pointless afterthought.

I'm hoping it allows all Heresy tanks with a few sensible exceptions like jet bikes or even just restrictions on how many you can take. I've personally found it a bit annoying to have practical limits on what models I've paid for that I can use, it's bad enough that in the past a lot of units or vehicles just are not worth taking due to poorly points costed or being nerfed. Even if it meant 0-1 I'd take it over having models sat gathering dust because they are not points effective or you are not allowed.

Obviously it'd have to be credible and lore friendly to make sense but it gives more options not just from a gaming point of view but a modelling one as well. Failing that chuck them in Legends so people have access to rules for friendly home games.

Just use the old excuse of Cawl did it.

Some stuff I like has already been said, so I'll add that I'm looking forward to all units being a bit better defined from one another with individual special rules. Eldar Guardians generating Fate dice or Battle Sisters generating Faith dice as examples: I want there to be good reasons to take any given unit, not just the most statistically optimal, and it looks like GW are at least attempting to do that.

I like the idea of the flexibility of the rule of 3/6, though have to see in practice

I like the promise of the detachments system with some extra variation between lists without it being _too_ much - though have to see if they follow through on that promise

I'm happy they seem to be finally delivering on the promise of rebalancing units and weapons

I'm happy about the datasheet and stratagem graphic redesign, seems a lot clearer on the whole - though I think they could have gone even further with the symbol and colour coding for datasheets ^^'

I'm cautiously looking forward to Imperial Agents; I'm looking forward to reading about them on Wednesday.

I'm cautiously looking forward to seeing what 10th ed Crusade looks like- they were pretty vague with the one article they've released so far.

I'm REALLY looking forward to downloading everything for free on day one. It might actually encourage me to try a few small forces I otherwise would not.

Good stuff mentioned so far.

I like a good shake-up, I really do. There’s obviously no guarantee that I’ll like the results of every single aspect that’s been changed, but so far I like the vast majority of the changes and I’m eager to see the indices for my armies and get to playing.

I look forward to playing with my entire collection in some fashion, and the index system will allow me to sample all of them right away. Marines (Black Templars), World Eaters, CSM (Word Bearers), Daemons of Khorne, and (Traitor) Guard all appear to be distinct, and in contrast to the wet blanket that 9th has become for me, 10th is full of exciting potential.

Bought myself a gaming table and mat, gonna get to work on terrain and such and get some gaming on in my home. Good times ahead.

I like the shake up. Despite the on topic grievances and reservations I have in other threads about certain aspects, I'm excited overall.

GW really made me feel good when they said about keeping units and in bringing out Sternguard Primaris but not replacing them, keeping the Venerable Dreadnought (all Boxnaughts are Venerable now) and new Terminators, they've allowed me to continue to play with my toys.

Which leads me onto what I'm looking forward to - the special rules and flavour of those units. They'll have a new leash on life. Tactical Marines too, as I think they'll get the rerolls Chaos Marines get only for shooting which will make their heavy weapons useful.
