Is the base size of the plague caster 32mm? The dark imperium was 40mm wasn't it?

Nope, the DI Plaguecaster is on a 32mm. The Blightbringer is on a 40mm.

Can anybody tell me how these compare to the regular death guard marines scale and aesthetics wise? Do they stand out or would they fit right into a death guard army?

They are fitting well, same size and aesthetics, and the bare head minis are even adding flavour/diversity to the army.

Not the best quality and kinda old photo, but you can spot some of those minis in there.

If you are a deathguard guy you want these. Variety is the spice of life and these are 7 more unique plaguemarines with built in nurglings..

I would like the plague caster. When I was doing my deathguard army I looked at picking these up from the last time they released, but everything is soon expensive on ebay. I am not sure I want to spend the time breaking from other projects to paint up all of them though.

I want the plaguecaster for completion sake - I have the SM heroes season 2 set from last time so a bit disgruntled they are repacking the same kit with the extra model or you are chancing your luck for it. I'd rather then sold the paint set with the model to be honest.

Edit: Ah, I see, blind individual buys, but a set of 8 is guaranteed to have one of each 7 sculpts present.

Same as every other SM Heroes release so far. You get all the variants if you buy a complete box, otherwise it's pot luck.

Thanks, @Kaiju Soze and @Arkhanist. I wasn't home and had a sneaking suspicion these guys (minus the caster) were the same as those in my pile of shame. I checked when I got back and they are. I got them when they did the 6-box release to get the 7 man Dark Imperium up to 10 men, plus a few extra characters/models for conversion fodder.

Exactly the same, I think they were probably sculpted at the same time. It's like if there were twice as many plaguemarine sculpts in Dark Imperium. And a good sorcerer.

I can only hope my local store can order these as well.  They had the Blood Angel space Marine heroes that I eschewed because of being boring, but these are so gorgeous.

3X if you consider DG has the Dark Imperium sculpts, the multi-part Plague Marine kit, then these guys. Oh and don't forget the ETB Plague Marine 3-pack and the three "Plague Marine" Reinforcements most recently seen in the boarding patrol. That's ~28 unique sculpts, far more with official alternate builds, and a huge variety of customization with head/weapon/backpack swaps. The DG puts every traitor legion, really every other faction to shame with the amount of unique troops it gets.

 

I hope the DA/SW/BA subfactions get similar variability in their troops options!

At one point the Plaguecaster was part of a paint set sold in Japan only. I have him and he’s a pretty cool model.

I assume the DG got a lot of unique sculpts because they have only have a single power armor unit.

You are forgetting the most expensive troop models.. the seperate release champion and iconbearer ;) they too are just plaguermarines not characters/HQ

I'm torn between hoping the rules for 10th aren't as awful as they appear to right now so I've a good reason to paint the DG, including these, in my shame mountain; and hoping they do kinda suck, so I don't feel guilty about leaving them on the backburner for now!
