Valkyrion
My (1) favoured method of painting if I don't want vehicles is; white scar > contrast colour > drybrush > light drybrush highlight > wash. So, Blood Angels are Blood Angels contrast, drybrush the lightest red (evil sunz?) lightly drybrush yriel yellow (?) then wash Reikland Fleshshade. This is because contrast doesn't flow very well over large flat panels, but allows for rapid painting up until the details. My (2) favoured method of painting if I do want vehicles is to base coat the colour e.g Crimson Fists; kantor blue base, drybrush two or three lighter blues, recess wash if with nuln oil. This, I find, makes a decent colour match but I find it hard to do with lighter colour armies. But I can't match the colours. Maybe I'm a bit colour blind, maybe the pots don't match the swatches on GW's website, maybe I'm just not doing it right. I don't know which base green is to be highlighted by which 2 layer greens over a black undercoat. Has to be black because vehicles respond poorly to white, in my experience. So I'd like help in painting Sons of Horus green using my (2) favoured method of basecoat, drybrush 1, drybrush 2, mini wash and/or vehicle line wash. Any and all advice would be most helpful, thank you. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/378883-sons-of-horus-green-help/ Share on other sites

Valkyrion
Forgetting the white scars imagery, do you think the one on the right would pass for a 30k Son of Horus? Valkyrion
Thanks. The trouble is in taking the colour in isolation. I need to paint both up fully, because once there are reds and whites and yellows and metals involved both could look different. These have both been painted identically except the one on the left has had Coelia Greenshade wash and the one on the right had a Biel Tan wash. I'll see about 'finishing' the models over the weekend and see if it makes a difference.
