mertbl
Played 2 games of 10th today. Marine on marine violence. The game definitely felt different than 9th. Everyone has cover, all the time, no one is fully visible. It seems like its going to swing into a vehicle heavy meta. They did all the real heavy lifting. Heavy laser destroyer picking up a land raider in 1 turn still felt bad, even if i did roll slightly above average. Your stuff felt durable and then the 40k kicked in and it was all gone(I meant it like you would get hit with a bunch of stuff and the lack of rerolls or buffs wouldn't let it do much damage and then poof a unit with rerolls or a buff would get you and it was gone.) Some of the high points and thoughts(in a vacuum) Oath of Moment is too good. Other factions might have something comparable but picking the unit that was going to die each turn was really good. Devastating wounds USR is pretty solid. I might switch to all gatling redemptors. Battle shock is still meaningless. I think I only failed 1 on a lone eliminator. Oh no, he still shot a guy while battle shocked. Charging is going to take some work, its not as easy to manipulate. Until it gets faqed, you don't have to fight your charge target, so if your opponent is clumped up, go get them all. Vanguard vet melee profile is lame. Shrike making a unit untargetable outside of 12" was really sweet. Eradicators are a shell of their former selves. They are going to wound most vehicles on 5s and even with full rerolls, were still underwhelming. Inquisitor_Lensoven
i have no clue what this means "Your stuff felt durable and then the 40k kicked in and it was all gone. " did i miss the part where points for all of our units got released? The 2 games at Kansas City Open figured up to be around 2200 or so in 9th ed points. Tempest seemed like a pretty decent way to get playing. Building an army based off of outdated points doesn’t really tell us much about how the game will feel. RAS got a massive buff, VGV got a massive nerf. im sure I could make a list with a bunch of RAS and blast a lot of units off the table without much issue based on current points costs. Most of the talking heads are saying points pretty much stayed the same or dropped. And you can only bring the 3 assault squads. What does that have to do with a unit that has rerolls/buffs being able to pick up another unit? The dice rolls still happened, yeah? Focslain
Did a game myself versus nids, we used the 9th Ed points as a base. We were mostly looking at see how the system worked and some units performed. When we get the points later this week we'll see how dis-balanced the lists were. Will have to add Aggessors to that list of de-buffed units. At least in melee as they took 3 rounds to get rid of 3 Raveners. But I wasn't hitting all that well either. Oath is strong as I was able to drop two monster units with only one unit. Took a carnifex out with on blast from a Redemptor plasma cannon and a hellblaster unit took down a flyrant. Will add that I had an Apothercary with Bolter Discipline enhancement added to them so got a few extra shots in. I did have two units battleshocked when the nid player activate Shadows of the Warp, but didn't make a big difference since the units were not near objectives. She was hoping to have the outrider squad holding an objective against her warriors would fail. Thinking with Devastating wounding on the rotary style weapons I'll be doing another ATV with the onslaught gun, still like the damage the plasma gives on the redemptor. Think we might try another run this weekend once points are posted, see how a more balanced force works. Though I do want to use the hammerfall bunker since it seems to get some free OW which is just amazing. mertbl 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/378913-i-played-10th-marine-on-marine/#findComment-5958929 Share on other sites
