Hey all,

I can't seem to find any examples from GW for squad markings anymore.  Nothing that GW still follows at least.  Does the gaurd still have squad markings?   I am painting up a sentinel and I don't know what markings to put on it, if any.

The Cadian kits still come with decals so you should be able to mark everything accordingly...

... I tend to use the 2nd Edition method with coloured discs that are bisected vertically with the company colour on the left and the platoon colour on the right. At some point, I will revisit and add command (C) and squad number designations on top, with decals... but at the moment, it's just company/platoon level. The company command and any advisors, special characters etc, will just have the company colour on their disc unless they are specifically attached to a platoon (like a platoon commander).

As examples, this is my company command (solid blue disc):

and this is red platoon command (blue/red disc):

Thanks, for some reason I thought they had moved on to a different official marking system but it looks like they haven't.  This chart doesn't show the regiment designation though.  Would that be on the right shoulder of a gaurdsman then?  Also would the heavy weapon in the picture have a number in the circle or would it be just a blue/red circle?

In the past, there wasn't a regimental marking apart from on the army standard. When the Cadian plastics turned up, the Cadian badge was on one shoulder and the squad number was on the other. I guess it was because the different armies were immediately recognisable by their uniforms and equipment (Tallarn, Cadian, Catachan etc...).

The heavy weapon squad would have a number as well because it is effectively anothe squad in the platoon... for example, the command squad would have a "C", the infantry squads would have "1", "2", "3" and the heavy weapon squad would have the next number in sequence, in this case "4".
