@Eilio Tiberius I honestly think that plasma are still solid too.  One less shot each, but better strength and AP, and the ability to overcharge if you really need that damage 3.

they just won't melt armor like they used to.

*cough uh hmm*

“Only in a real world age of tanks being so vulnerable to infantry would we get GW nerfing infantry so bad that they have almost nothing to counter tanks.”

“Thank you for your time.@

Steps down from the “official” Soap Box.

Used a unit of 3 last night. Went first so I didn't have the need to use Rapid Ingress, but managed to jam them onto the opponents backfield and finish off a ballistus in the process. They definitely feel very effective for their points and lack of CP requirements, though I'm still a little wary of infiltrators.

As for anti tank capabilities of the plasma cannons, they never used to be viable anti tank back before 8th; they couldn't damage the heaviest vehicles and would only get one hit. Not sure what else to expect when they start increasing toughness values close to the old armour ones; medium strength and medium damage isn't going to cut through high toughness and wounds.

Why is Rapid Ingress important if going second? Is it just the opportunity to drop on an unguarded Objective so that you can score it in your Command Phase?

Well, from what I can tell, rapid ingress allows for two things; dropping in to flip an objective for your upcoming turn, or to allow your melee unit to move and and only need a 3" charge. If you go first, you can't bring them in before you score for the first time, and they're not a melee unit to really need that movement.

That's not to say you have to use it if going second, just thats when it seems the most useful to me.

I think others will have better ideas than me until I knock the rust off from quitting half way through 9th but just the threat means your opponent has to keep something “substantial” in their backfield to guard said objective or lose it.

For me im looking at Inceptors and wondering if they are the best option of 'deep strike to pew pew'. Those bolters are a good source of D2 but im wondering if they are stepping on the toes of other things like Terminators. Then again I could take both.

They seem like a perfect mobile unit for helping with those positional Tactical Objectives, especially with Meteoric Descent, while also bringing some surprisingly efficient and reliable pain.

Terminators on the other hand feel like something you use to push primary. Not that you can't with Inceptors, but the full package of good shooting, good melee, tough as nails, and deep strike gives Terminators the right toolkit to push most things off a primary objective.

Sure, you can use Inceptors to do the same thing, and Terminators to chase secondaries if you wish, but the Inceptors have impressive enough mobility in comparison so I personally feel they're better equipped there.

So for me, I'm going with both haha

Please note that I've hidden a number of posts that were threatening to derail the discussion here. Some were a bit rude and unconstructive, some were not, but they were all off topic.

So, why didn't I hide the initial post that inspired this little dust up:confused: I'm glad you asked:yes: Aside comments that are tangential to a conversation but not directly related do serve a purpose. They can provide a momentary break from the conversation with a little humor, a little information, or even a little inspiration for someone to start a separate thread related to the post. Brother Dracos' post does this nicely. An aside is not an invitation to start a separate in thread conversation/argument... which clearly was not Brother Dracos' intention. If, however, you have concerns about an in-thread comment please send a REPORT.

If you have any questions or concerns please send me a PM and I will respond asap. Concerning all things B&C I am your servant.... Tah:smile:

In my match against Grey Knights yesterday, one of them (the rest of the squad died to crappy rolls early in the game) took out a terminator and put 2 wounds on another in one round of shooting! When they spike, they spike hard!

They weren't even my OoM target.
