As I mentioned in the original topic, I think some of these Chapters are not just ideas, but "owned" by the poster, and I think it would be weird/disrespectful to develop them as a community Chapter, unless the poster is okay with it.. The Bloody Palms are one of these. I may be wrong/misinterpreting the posters, but if I'm right I thought it was worth mentioning again.

Anyways, my vote has been cast :turned:

Well if one of those chapters takes the lead in the poll we can always ask said person, and if they would rather not have their  idea turned into a community project  we just look to the next most voted or some such.

Edit: I have to say I voted purely on the name right now and what I thought it might entail. I probably should have looked at all of the ideas a bit more first, oh well Quoth the Raven Guard and all that.

Thank you for setting this up @Daimyo-Phaeron Lenoch.

I was in the middle of writing up a short blurb for each Chapter, and my initial idea for the first poll was not to vote on what Chapter but what or goal was to be; serious 100% lore abiding Chapter, a well written chapter with a little room for some fun, a carefree everything goes Chapter—trying to come up with a Mission Statement to focus us.

Project Mission Statement

Our mission is to inspire and unite the writers of Index Astartes (IA) Articles, the Bolter and Chainsword forum members, and the wider 40k community to create lore-abiding articles that celebrate the richness of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. We strive to foster a community that encourages and supports the creation of homebrew content while upholding the values of enjoyability and inclusivity. Our articles pay homage to the original IA publications by Games Workshop while incorporating the dynamic introduction of Primaris Marines and the Great Rift, ensuring a comprehensive and immersive experience for all fans.

How long will the poll be open for? The end of the month maybe? I think it would be good to know for potential voters.

Most polls should run no longer than 1 week. Us members are fickle by nature and with short attention spans we have to keep things snappy

I'll say this is a very hard poll lol... I've changed my mind a few times. There are just so many great choices in the chapters listed. I wish I could vote for multiple.

Regardless of whose chapter wins, there are a lot of strong ideas, and I hope they all get a chance to shine at some point

So keep up the good work brothers and sisters, you should be proud of your ideas!

:)

FWIW, no such ownership claims on the Gaol Wardens. They were an idea stuck in my head, but that I wasn’t gonna make much use of, so offered up to anyone who might find inspiration from the idea.

It is indeed, hence why there will be multiple rounds of this—including probably elimination rounds.

I will say, I am a big fan of the Edgar Allan Poe idea (Which would need its own poll to determine which book) as long as it is indeed not 'The Raven' because I already have a chapter with a 'strong focus on omens, prophecy, and psychic powers.' and don't really want to go through that again nor the effort in distinguishing them

Nautical Imperial Fists

Vote for the creation of "The Warborn," a nautical Chapter descended from the Imperial Fists, and immerse yourself in a thrilling maritime adventure within the vast expanse of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Inspired by the illustrious traditions of the Royal Navy, their armor dons a distinguished dull blue-grey hue adorned with captivating burgundy trim, while their left arm remains bare metal, symbolizing their affinity for the sea.

"The Warborn" embody the spirit of superhuman space sailors, boasting unrivaled toughness in mind, body, and soul. They are a rough and ready force, renowned for their foul-mouthed banter and deeply rooted superstitions. Their close-quarter combat skills are unmatched, reflecting their aptitude for brutal, in-your-face engagements.

By supporting this project, you will contribute to the creation of a Chapter that adds a new layer of audacity and resourcefulness to the rich tapestry of Warhammer 40,000. "The Warborn" will infuse the universe with the captivating spirit of naval heritage, forging their legend as the masters of the close-quarter fight. Prepare to embark on a thrilling voyage, where the clash of swords and the roaring of cannons merge in a symphony of battle. Embrace the call of the sea and join "The Warborn" as they carve their name in the annals of the Imperium, forever celebrated as formidable champions of the depths.

Hellboy Marines

Vote for the creation of the enigmatic "Hands of Doom," a successor Chapter of the Imperial Fists. Inspired by the essence of Hellboy, they possess a unique approach to warfare. Rather than deploying in force, they typically send out a lone marine to confront conflicts and threats. Many of their battle-brothers have been seconded to Inquisitors, showcasing their versatility and investigative prowess. Renowned for surviving wounds and punishments that would slay even a marine, they embody resilience in the face of unimaginable odds. Their thirst for knowledge is reflected in their extensive library, documenting their experiences and encounters. Not limited to conventional thinking, the Hands of Doom exhibit an unusually high tolerance for mutants, abhumans, and sanctioned xenos, often clashing with commanders who dismiss them. Mutants and abhumans are even integrated into their personal serf retinues. When a lone battle-brother embarks on a mission, they are accompanied by a diverse entourage of personal and specialist serfs, chosen for their unique skills. While their color scheme is yet to be decided, their right hand and gauntlet shall proudly bear the mark of red. Support the creation of the Hands of Doom, and witness the birth of a Chapter that challenges the status quo and redefines the boundaries of the Space Marine legend.

Blood Bats

Vote for the creation of the extraordinary successor Chapter known as the "Angels of Shadow" or "Vespertilio Angelorum," a bold and heretical offshoot of the Blood Angels. These mighty warriors bear bat wings instead of the traditional angelic wings, exuding an air of mystery and darkness. Embracing the shadows, they have earned their fearsome reputation as masters of stealth and surprise. With their unique aesthetic and forbidden name, the Angels of Shadow challenge the established norms, breathing new life into the Blood Angels lineage. Support this concept and witness the emergence of a Chapter that embodies the enigmatic allure of the night, forever etching their mark in the annals of the Imperium.

Druid Marines

Vote for the creation of the awe-inspiring successor Chapter known as the "Thornwatch," a Celtic and Druidic-themed offshoot of the mighty Blood Angels. Steeped in ancient traditions and folklore, they are a fusion of the mystical and the martial. Their armor is adorned with intricate thorn motifs, blood drops, cauldrons, and the haunting imagery of the Day of the Dead, intertwined with the mystic Ogham runes and vibrant woad paintings. Embodying the raw power of the Warp, their Death Company warriors enter a fearsome state known as the "Warp-spasm," becoming berserkers of unmatched fury. By supporting this concept, you will bring to life a Chapter that celebrates the rich heritage of the Celts and Druids while weaving it into the tapestry of the Blood Angels' legacy. Embrace the mystic allure of the Thornwatch and witness their relentless ferocity forever etched in the annals of the Imperium.

Edgar Allan Poe Marines

Vote for the creation of an extraordinary Chapter inspired by the haunting and macabre world of Edgar Allan Poe. This Chapter, shrouded in mystery and darkness, delves deep into the realms of Poe's literary genius to forge a unique and captivating legacy. Drawing inspiration from Poe's works, their armor bears the enigmatic symbols of ravens, pendulums, and quills, paying homage to his iconic imagery. Their battle tactics and strategies reflect the intricate and intricate plot twists of Poe's tales, ensuring their enemies never escape the grasp of their calculated fury. Known as the "Midnight Ravens" or "Poe's Legacy," this Chapter navigates the blurred boundaries of sanity and madness, embodying the depths of the human psyche. By supporting the creation of this Chapter, you will bring to life a haunting and captivating presence in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, forever intertwining the chilling essence of Edgar Allan Poe with the mythos of the Space Marines. Embrace the darkness and unravel the enigma of the Midnight Ravens as they etch their haunting tales upon the annals of the Imperium.

Admonishers

Vote for the creation of the vigilant and unwavering Chapter known as "The Admonishers." These zealous warriors adhere to the Codex Astartes with unparalleled devotion, refusing to deviate from its doctrines, even if their understanding is skewed by their incredibly literal thinking. Their strict adherence to the Codex, albeit with potential misinterpretations, leads them to reject non-standardized wargear and limit their battle plans to the most orthodox approaches. They are steadfast in their refusal to collaborate with Imperial forces they perceive as straying from "proper" doctrine

While they may be perceived as unconventional, The Admonishers possess a unique strength: their unparalleled ability to root out corruption and heresy within the Imperium. Due to their relentless scrutiny of the Imperial creed in all its forms, they excel at uncovering hidden threats. Consequently, their role often veers towards that of the galaxy's most formidable military police rather than a traditional fighting force. Their actions primarily target "wayward" Imperial subjects, safeguarding the integrity of the Imperium from within

Supporting the creation of The Admonishers will bring about a Chapter that stands as the unyielding bastion of purity and adherence to the Codex Astartes. While their battle prowess may be limited by their strict interpretation, their unrivaled ability to uncover corruption makes them indispensable in purging the taint of heresy. Embrace the uncompromising resolve of The Admonishers and witness the birth of a Chapter that will tirelessly defend the purity of the Imperium against all who dare to stray from its righteous path.

Star Hawks

Vote for the creation of an extraordinary Ultramarine Successor Chapter that stands as a living testament to the legacy of disagreement and mistrust. These noble warriors, known as the "War Borne," carry an ancient grudge against their progenitor, Roboute Guilliman, and vehemently reject his reforms. They question the purity of his intentions with the Unremembered Empire, believing that his actions were tainted by ulterior motives

In their unyielding defiance, the War Borne adhere to the old ways, embracing traditional methods and rejecting Guilliman's sweeping changes. Their tactics harken back to a bygone era, favoring close combat and relentless assaults over the strategic doctrines implemented by the Ultramarines. The unbreakable spirit of the War Borne fuels their pursuit of martial perfection, as they seek to prove their worthiness and independence in the face of their father's shadow.

By supporting the creation of this dissenting Chapter, you will bring forth a narrative of internal strife and divergence within the Ultramarines lineage. The War Borne's refusal to conform challenges the established order, breathing new life into the intricate tapestry of the Space Marine mythos. Embrace their axe-grinding resolve and witness the birth of a Chapter that stands apart, resolute in their convictions and steadfast in their pursuit of honor.

Angels of the Harvest

Vote for the creation of the enigmatic Angels of the Harvest, a Dark Angels successor Chapter that emerges from the aftermath of a devastating decapitation strike. This tragic event resulted in the loss of their entire Inner Circle. The Angels of the Harvest take their name from the symbolism of fall, where crops are reaped. Unlike their Dark Angels brethren, they do not prioritize the Hunt for the Fallen, for they remain ignorant of the existence of their fallen brothers and find the behavior of their Brother Chapters incomprehensible.

Unburdened by the weight of secrecy, the Angels of the Harvest forge friendlier relations with other Chapters and Imperial institutions. Their lack of knowledge about the Fallen sets them apart, causing a certain level of distrust among other Dark Angels successors. However, their openness allows them to form stronger alliances and work more harmoniously with other factions.

In a stark contrast to their counterparts, the Angels of the Harvest believe themselves to be the "Unforgiven" due to their perception that Lion El'Jonson failed to arrive in time to relieve the Siege of Terra. They focus on their duty to protect the Imperium and uphold their honor, rather than obsessing over the Fallen battle-brothers and their gene-seed.

By supporting the creation of the Angels of the Harvest, you will bring to life a Chapter that embodies resilience and adaptability. Their unique perspective, forged through tragedy and ignorance, challenges the established Dark Angels narrative. Embrace their refreshing approach and witness the birth of a Chapter that stands apart, forging alliances and protecting the Imperium with unwavering dedication.

Desert Hawks

Vote for the creation of the awe-inspiring Desert Hawks, a Chapter deeply influenced by the rich traditions of the Bedouins and desert Arabs. Their symbol, a striking raptor or raptor's head, adorns their light blue left pauldron, standing as a beacon of their identity. Clad predominantly in beige-white, the Desert Hawks don sashes, robes, and similar attire in white or white-ish hues, symbolizing the unforgiving sands of the desert. To add a touch of opulence, their armor features gold coin bling, using the Iron Golem's coin bling/mail painted in shimmering gold.

The Desert Hawks' preferred style of warfare is characterized by hit-and-run attacks, ambushes, raids, and expertly executed stalkings of their targets. They excel at disrupting supply lines and dismantling enemy logistics, striking fear into the hearts of their adversaries. While they may possess versatility in other forms of warfare, their true passion lies in the art of desert warfare.

By supporting the creation of the Desert Hawks, you will bring to life a Chapter that embodies the spirit of nomadic warriors, their resilience honed by the unforgiving desert. Drawing inspiration from the Bedouins and desert Arabs, they infuse their unique traditions into the tapestry of the Space Marine mythos. Embrace their hit-and-run mastery and witness the birth of a Chapter that stalks the sands with unrivaled prowess, forever etching their legacy in the annals of the Imperium.

Camazotz Chapter

Vote for the creation of the awe-inspiring Camazotz Chapter, drawing its inspiration from the legendary bat deity of Mayan mythology. This Chapter's symbol, a representation of Camazotz itself, adorns their armor, serving as a powerful emblem of their connection to the ancient deity. Clad in dark hues, their armor reflects the mystique and enigma associated with bats, their presence striking fear into the hearts of their enemies.

The Camazotz Chapter embodies the characteristics of their namesake, embracing their affinity for darkness and the night. Their tactics revolve around stealth, surprise, and swift, precise strikes. Like bats swooping from the shadows, they descend upon their foes with lethal efficiency, leaving chaos and destruction in their wake. Their bat-like enhancements, whether physical or symbolic, further enhance their prowess in the art of war.

By supporting the creation of the Camazotz Chapter, you will bring to life a Chapter that embodies the mysterious allure of Mayan mythology. Their dedication to stealth and precision will strike fear into the hearts of their adversaries, forever etching their legacy as formidable warriors in the annals of the Imperium. Embrace the darkness and unleash the fury of the Camazotz as they soar through the battlefield, a force to be reckoned with.

Gaol Wardens

Vote for the creation of the Gaol Wardens, a Chapter shrouded in mystery and bearing a connection to the radical side of the Inquisition. With a history predating the Age of Apostasy, their origins are obscured, hinting at a clandestine and enigmatic past. The Gaol Wardens specialize in hunting daemons, driven by a unique theory that their isolation or true-death destruction weakens the gods themselves. In their pursuit of a long and arduous war against the Warp, they capture and create daemonhosts, primarily from failed Aspirants, meticulously binding them behind arcane sigils. Even in the event of the daemon's escape or death, these sigils ensure their confinement, preventing them from wreaking havoc.

While the ultimate success of their attritional warfare against the gods remains unknown, the Gaol Wardens and their loyal supporters find solace in the belief that it offers a more permanent solution than repeated banishments. The dwarf planet known as Oubliette serves as their holding facility, a meticulously fortified bastion dedicated to containing the daemonic threat. The Gaol Wardens commit a significant portion of their strength to safeguarding the seals that protect Oubliette, ever watchful for potential incursions that could jeopardize their mission.

By supporting the creation of the Gaol Wardens, you will give rise to a Chapter that stands as a bulwark against the insidious forces of the Warp. Their relentless pursuit of daemonkind and their unyielding dedication to containing and weakening the gods themselves mark them as a force to be reckoned with. Embrace the shadows of uncertainty and join the Gaol Wardens in their eternal struggle, as they strive to tip the scales in the war against the divine。

I have two ideas based on Edgar Allan Poes work

"The Fall of the House of Usher"

This tale could inspire a Space Marine Chapter that focuses on defending ancient and decaying structures (Relic Worlds). The chapter's homeworld could be a desolate and crumbling planet, and their fortress-monastery could be a massive gothic castle and/or possibly haunted.

"The Pit and the Pendulum"

This story could inspire a Space Marine Chapter known for their resilience and determination in the face of torture or hardship. They might have a focus on close combat and use specialized weapons resembling the deadly pendulum. The chapter's initiation trials could involve enduring extreme physical and mental challenges.
