You mean of course … Raven Guard …. as Masters of Ambush that Strike from the Shadows ;)

They already have a secret deployment option.

With the Termagant weapon options shown at Saturdays reveal, do we think the upcoming space marine release will reveal more weapon options for marine units?

Personally, i'm hoping so, especially for Sternguard (of course) but also would like to see other primaris units get some weapon options, even if its just squad Sgts since the uniqueness of Sgts got rode over with 10th indexes amalgamating a Sgts Ld  and attacks inline with the rest of the squad.

I think the majority of new options will just come with the multipose kits - Sternguard and Terminators should both get them, along with a fair amount of alternate wargear for the former and at least a few for the latter (alternate heavy weapons if nothing else, but also maybe some Sergeant options).

Then again, I've been anticipating a generic "Space Marine Upgrade Kit" primarily for the Intercessors for a while now. With the pretense that the Primaris range isn't actually replacing the Firstborn having now been abandoned, it's a bit silly for the obvious Tactical Squad replacement to only have a single non-Sergeant alternate weapon, the lowly Auxiliary Grenade Launcher. Then again, they could just give them access to some of the special/heavy weapons that should be coming in the Sternguard kit.

Yeah, I think we're going to see multi part kits of what's in the Leviathan box, so:
- Infernus Marines

- Terminators

- Sternguard

- Chaplain in Terminator Armour

Less than obvious speculation:
- Primaris Flyer. Need something for dog-fighting Harpies and Heldrakes (and yes I am aware of the Stormraven and Stormtalon and the Stormhawk. Just call it the Stormbudgie)

- Graviton gun squad, we've got Infernus, Eradicators and Hellblasters. I can see them coming up with a 3 marine squad armed for disrupting enemy movement.

- Jump Pack Assault Intercessors. Because I have no idea why it's taken them this long anyway.

- Some sort of artillery piece or something like a cross between a Basilisk and a Tiger.

Completely out there speculations;
- Multi option Lieutenant, kinda like the old Firstborn Captain from years ago.

- Multi option Captain

- Multi option Chaplain

- Multi option Librarian

Is a multipart infernus squad a priority? I mean Terminators and Sternguard I get, but if I was GW I'd just chuck the Infernus snapfit sprues in a box and charge intercessor prices.

I'd rather scouts or something get done than wasting time on that.

As much as I like Aircraft, I don't thing GW do, so I'd temper expectations there.

Keen to see a new Terminator Chaplain though.

Scouts are coming eventually in the next Kill Team season.

Yeah, but logistics are logistics. If you're getting an Infernus mould cut, you're not getting something else done ( or at least not in a timely fashion)

My point is, I don't think we need a multipart Infernus squad. It's a waste of resources. Heck, you can't even buy suppressors at all at the moment, but we need two Primaris flamer squad releases? Meanwhile half of Indomitus was happy to move to standalone boxes, as is.

Wasn't there one in the box set that had the Brutalis? Don't know if it ever got a solo release, though.

None of those models have had standalone releases yet. You can't buy Desolation Marines or the Brutalis.

I don’t think there has ever been much of a “connect” between what we feel we need and GWs decision making on what we get.

For sure. Ok you can change that to "I hope we don't get multipart infernus marines."

As for planes. I would bet it's not going to happen, regardless of what anyone wants.

Aircraft and Anti-Aircraft are unlikely to happen.  I think GW thinks they gave us "Jump Fighters" in the Outrider Bikes, and Primaris "bikes" in the Inceptors but they didn't.  The Chapter/unit fluff is completely at odds.   They're going to have to give us Jump Fighters.  My big question is what are they going to do wtih the character/armor options.  Terminator Chaplain?  Gravis Chaplain?  Lieutenant? Libby? Terminator Lieutenant? Phobos Chaplain?  Especially if they're going to keep the Can/Can't Lead so locked down?

I'm wondering when this eventuality will come to fruition tbh

I'd like there to be an interesting melding of firstborn and classic more than just porting over options and mushing them together. Could almost do a flowchart fashion; Start with Intercessors, then have the option of making them into...tacticessors? meh, whatever. Where they lose bolt rifle 'heavy' and 'assault' rules, but gain special/heavy weapon options (maybe even choose between the unit having 'sticky objectives' or 'fallback, shoot, charge').

Bit of an awkward description of what i'm envisioning tbh, works better for melding devastators and hellblasters.

Devastators being the 'standard configuration' as they currently are, or choose to if you want the unit to use a single weapon option from what they have access to, lose sgt options and just become like Hellblasters...maybe, or not.

Honestly, I just think the inconsistency of SM codex is making my OCD kick off and its drives me spare. apologies for the tangent.

Having now played a few games of 10th edition, I find myself in complete opposition of melding units further or muddying the water, so to speak.

40k takes a long time to play. There are a lot of units with varying stats, weapons, abilities etc that are fun to use, but can also bog the game down.

From a gameplay perspective, I find myself simply groaning when units start rolling for individual weapons hidden within squads that have completely different profiles, and often target different units. They tend to amount to nothing except for slowing the game down.

The streamlining of the weapon profiles within squads, and also what was applied to the Repulsor tanks (with the defensive array rules) is a much needed step in the right direction.

Giving Intercessors a single Plasma or Melta does not improve the unit. These weapons need to be used in sufficient numbers in order to covert dice into results.

I think this customisation belongs in skirmish games like Kill Team and Necromunda.

In my opinion, GW didn't go far enough with the various units across all the factions, and many can still get bogged down with a lot of options that don't covert time wasted on the tabletop into results. From a Tactical perspective this customisation also offers very little as a singular different weapon profile in a squad has no impact on the movement, deployment or durability of a unit.

But let's consider the evidence of what GW might do. They just released an outright replacement for an old unit - The Primaris Sternguard. Whether you use your old models or not, all Sternguard are now Primaris - their rules, keywords and unit interactions outline them as such.  They have a far more streamlined profile of wargear options, are much more defined in how they should be used and deployed, and the unit is still great and fun to use on the tabletop.

I expect the same streamlining will take place with any further units that cross the rubicon.

There was a really good one in the Strike Force Agastus box, with lots of options. Not available as a single miniature, but there are loads available on eBay if you want one.

Chaplain in Terminator Armour (With Shield)
Jump Assault Intercessors

Jump Assault Captain

Scouts

Multi Part Termiantors (Chain Fists, Flamer etc)

Really hope we get some suprises!
