blacksnapt
Hi guys, is it possible with the use of stratagems to have the dev doctrine active all game? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/379488-devastator-doctrine-all-game/ Share on other sites
Sea Creature
After you’ve used it, then only one unit using the stratagem. I think you could technically do two units per battle round. One naturally, by using the Adaptive Stratagy Stratagem, and another by duplicating that stratagem using a Captain's Rites of Battle ability. I think that would work. Karhedron
I think @Lemondish has the right answer. Given that the Devastator Doctrine grants Advance and Fire, what units or tactics are you envisaging where having this permanently on would be useful? I'm thinking slow moving and durable infantry that you want to maximize movement on to get in range without requiring a transport. Something like an Aggressor blob for instance. The Storm of Fire stratagem also gives them an extra pip of AP if you're in Devastator Doctrine. You can move faster, get them to their preferred target (where they'll get an extra point of AP if they're the closest), and also drop Storm of Fire so you end up with a ton of AP -2 Str 4 shots, with a chunk of them rerolling wounds due to twin-linked. Stuff like that seems ideal. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/379488-devastator-doctrine-all-game/#findComment-5970508 Share on other sites
CCE1981
Eradicators with an attached Apothecary Biologis to them and you can seriously bring down armor. I find the best part of Eradicators is that they already get passive re-rolls so you can use them in a more flexible manner against targets that aren't your Oath selection. Re-rolls to both hit AND wound with Lethal Hits combine to be surprisingly reliable at wounding even the toughest targets. It's been mentioned in the good combos thread, but they're also a great combo with a SS Thunderstrike. The mobility to advance and still shoot will help you maximize their chances at getting within half range for melta. Good call on that one! Doctrines are also an escalator for the at least three "emblematic" strats. Dev Doctrine and Storm of Fire - In Dev Doctrine you get -1AP, Squad Tactics moves 6" instead of D6" in Tactical, Honour The Chapter and -1AP in Assault - plus Bolter Discipline in Dev Doctrine makes Crit Hits on a 5+ feeding Lethal and Sustained Hits twice as often.
