I've been back at trying to finish off the Marines I wanted to already have finished, and doing touch ups on them to get them over the line - it's been a bit of a slog, to be honest. I've now finished the Hellblasters, at long last:

Talking of the touch-ups being a slog, I learnt that when gluing the sub-assemblies together to complete the models (guns/arms and backpacks), in future I should do this after I've varnished them all; when I was trying to glue these together yesterday, after having spent 90 minutes touching up the gun casings, the process of handling the guns to glue them on resulted in the touch-ups actually coming off (again)  So I spent an hour re-doing those tonight..!

I'll carry on with the two Assault Intercessor squads, as I really want to just get them done - but in the meantime I've decided how I'll paint the fatigues on my Scouts: very dark grey:

I tried black, khaki and drab/military green, but I thought this looked the best with the Chapter's grey armour, and I think it suits the idea of Scouts being stealthy type troops. Now I just need to finish those Intercessors, then I can actually start painting the Scouts..!

Thank you @Firedrake Cordova  I think the addition of some weathering powders on the bases at the end really makes them work

If anyone had been in the vicinity of my house this afternoon, they'd have likely heard a few choice expletives stated quite vehemently :cuss: I managed to knock a pack of GW game boards from the top of the shelves above my painting area, which fell on to my unfinished Lieutenant, breaking him from his base, and his pistol arm off :oops:

Thankfully the breaks were pretty clean and I've been able to repair it. Anyway, finished off some details and touch-ups on him tonight after doing the repairs - was gonna call him finished but I realised I still need to add a couple of chips to the Chapter Insignia and rank icon on his shoulders :whistling: so I'll do that in due course, then he'll be done

First pic makes the sword blade look darker than it is - the pic from the back shows it off a little better.

You have my sympathies with the mishaps. However, these kinds of incidents - as frustrating as they are - are a part of the hobby. I mean, most of the time, they are not 'permanent' - just annoying require some extra time. You did a good job and all your models are up to the highest standards.

Thank you all for your kind comments  Really appreciated after the drama with the Lieutenant

So this week I endured the 'death by 1000 papercuts' that is the final touch-ups and corrections, and I got the two Assault Marine squads finished. It is no exaggeration to say I was ready to be done with these  Here's the finished squads:

What got me over the like with these was the thought that, after these were done, I wouldn't have to paint any more Assault Intercessors :laugh: (I'm treating the ones with Jump Packs as a different type of squad altogether, though it'll be a while before I get to any of those :whistling:

I'll get some better pictures of these in due course (including the whole Boarding Patrol so far), but now at least I can start on something else. Well, when it's stopped raining and I can get out to prime some miniatures, anyway..!

Thank you @gaurdian31 and @Firedrake Cordova

The better pics I promised will have to wait - I got my wish, we had a few hours without rain today  so at lunch time I frantically got everything together (mainly, prepping the sub-assemblies) for priming - I managed to do the Scouts and the Captain.

Tonight I've started on the Scouts - base coating Dawnstone. Well, half of them, anyway

Half of these will complete the 500 points Boarding Patrol, the other half will be for a 'regular' 2000 point army - together they'll be a single Kill Team  I'll paint these in tandem with the Captain, so pics of that soon

excited for the captain!

Thanks @gaurdian31 - I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to him

I managed to get some pics of the finished Marines - for some reason, my camera has an issue with the red helmets  For completion sake I also included the first Assault Intercessor squad I did - showing the Boarding Patrol so far!

Is your camera applying any automatic "optimisations" to the image (i.e. boosting saturation)?

They are looking pretty sweet my friend. The gold aquila pops and the green shoulder trim stands out. Not something we see enough of on Astartes.

Honestly, I've no idea - I'm using my mobile/cell phone, I really should get a better photography set up if I want better pics of my miniatures

So I've been working on the Scouts - base coating, shading the armour, then shading the fatigues; followed by highlights, which is proving time consuming. One layer of highlights done, I've another to do.

Better look at the Sergeant to show the fatigues and highlights:

Hoping to get on to the weapons and leather parts in the next couple of weeks, as there'll be a pause for a couple of weeks ath the start of April while we're on holiday.  But highlights are time consuming, so we'll see..!

Quick update before we go on holiday for the next couple of weeks - base colours on leather holsters/pouches blocked in, and undersuit & piping part way done (based with The Fang, shaded with Basilicanum Grey).

I've also base coated the camo cloaks - two coats of Militarum Green is a pretty solid base colour, ready for some camo patterning

I was hoping to get these done by the end of April, but I doubt that'll be enough - either way, I'll carry on with them when we're back in a couple of weeks
