I think I may start a Guard army this edition. I've always wanted to have a DKoK army, but thought I would be waiting a very long time because of how expensive it would be to go completely with FW.

For those of you Kreigers out there, would you mind posting your conversions/tips on conversions for having a full Kreig army? I'm tempted to do just a straight Cadian army because it would be easier (and cheaper), but I know that I know I will end up feeling like I really want to have a Kreig army. Part of my hang up is having Kreigers posed properly for something like the new ordnance battery, etc.

Anyway, looking forward to (hopefully) seeing what you all have.

How about making everything/most from the plastic kit?

It will still be expensive but far less expensive than fw, esp once you starting buying from 3rd party retailers with 20% off:yes:

There is also 3d printed stuff which you can find online eBay/etc called valour/valor korps/corps:smile:

As someone who has the plastic kit, I second @Emperor Ming. It has fantastic detail and comes with enough bits to really make your own unique unit which helps for command squads and the like. It's a great basis for anything in the guard codex with a bit of work.

Here's mine just done up as standard infantry:

If you're willing to use third party you could check out Anvil Industry, here are some of their minis which I have for combat engineers:

The FOB arms work with plastic Kriegers as far as I've seen. The main thing to remember with plastics is that the Krieg heads don't fit Cadian plastics.

Tiny Legend conversion kits are another thing to look into. They do some really cool stuff for the plastic line. (including converting new Cadians to Krieg). One of the only 3rd party sets of DKK I'd recommend, based on the looks at least.

As for me? Forge World all the way! Looks are second to none imo.

The resin artillery crew are actually pretty fun to mix-match and repose. Price is obviously high though...

The plastic Krieg look good and there are enough options in the box that you should not need too much FW, however, you might need to go down that route for marshals and CMD squads. I am building the FOB guns without the guy sat on it and putting some of the plastic Kreig as the crew around it. As JayJapanB mentioned the arms are cross compatible but are not an exact match in looks, I am thinking about more of a hand swap than an arm swap.

you can just model the FOBs as lanyard fired, using fishing wire or something like it as the lanyard.

For the HWT, you could use the kneeling bodies from the KRieg infantry set for the crew, with the gunner arms from the HWT kit, if you can tollerate the difference is shoulder pads, or you can cut the arms together taking the shoulder pads from the krieg and mating them to the gunner arms. other than that its to forge world if don't want to go 3rd party

I'm currently thinking of doing the same, and in another thread I came across WW1 miniatures from Wargames Atlantic (available as French and German infantry). I'm not sure how their exact scale is, but you could have a look at them (and maybe someone here can post pictures of them next to the new Cadians).
