I clawed and scratched my way up the rankings and finished 19th overall to wrap up 9th edition

SW were real good with uncapped codex warfare and then the appearance of desolation marines.

I was alternate #2 and gor my ticket to the top 16 invitational.

10th is a whole different beast of a game...I have about 5 matches under my belt so far.

We are now a mid tier faction.

However i am staying true and brought an underdog SW army to the event.

Round 1 i face GSC...i actually have a punchers chance to advance

Very eager to read this new Saga! I have been mirroring your last one of 9th with my Raven Guard and had great success.

Have you considered using the double-tap combo of Impulsor with Eliminators? I know it probably won't last long, but it looks like it could be effective while it last...

Yes that's the gist of it. The Eliminators get out or are already out of the Impulsor at the begining of the shooting phase. They shoot, fade 6" because of the sergeant's carbine and hop in the Impulsor. Then the Impulsor shoots and because of the way Firing Deck is worded, it can now shoot with 6 weapons from the embarked squad(s) on top of it's own weapon. Basically, you can shoot twice with the Eliminators with said combo. Until it gets FAQed of course.

That's a pretty sweet combo. Do you run them with snipers or fusils?

I was gonna run Long Fangs in the Impulsor and have a gunboat, but then I realized Impulsors have a ride height minimum apparently and firstborn are too short.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys.

I play Sunday at 7am PST

The draw is H-2

Primary-The Ritual

Secondary-Chilling Rain

Deployment-Hammer & Anvil

I am definitely the underdog so this may be an extremely short saga

But I have a chance

The other SW in the invitational just won his round 1 matchup v GSC (different bracket so different mission/map)

Victory against the GSC hordes has been achieved

Clocking out a GSC opponent is likely outcome with all the models and stuff they need to move around

I dedicate that win to Brand and named my invictor after him

If anyone has questions let me know

Solid Work Tigurius! You got a win against the current Boogey Man, nice job. I'll watch the game and come back with questions I'm sure, but in the meantime :

Did the Inceptors helped to prevent GSC from respawning at all or did you use them to score objectives only?

Given the choice, would you prefer to have two Invictor instead of one and an Ironclad?

Did you felt the lack of dedicated assault unit in your list?

The inceptors gave me the option to threaten his respawn tokens and strongly impacted his game decisions

He literally spawned them in the corner far away from me and I was perfectly fine with that

I used the bolter inceptors for tactical missions and to try and mess with his primary scoring instead of chasing tokens

The plasma inceptors were assigned to anti aberrant duty.  He won the roll to deploy first so I had to plant them as a rapid response if he pushed out

If I won the roll they would have gone into reserve

I don't think 2 invictors work...too expensive and not enough terrain to help both of them

I took 1 because I love the option to apply pressure if I get 1st turn (i am a phobos wolf lord...that was my style in 9th with infiltrators giving me a strong advantage if I got 1st turn)

With invictor scout of 8 + 8+d6 advance and 2d6 charge I have 16+3d6 to go 24 inches...I can threaten a charge across no mans land if a tempting target exists and I get 1st turn

Other maps the scout move lets me take a really strong defensive position and deny an objective or good hiding spot

If I had won first deployment and/or first turn (and he redeployed his aberrants away) this is what I had planned...I was going to push as hard as possible deep into his lines

I was not expecting to lose BOTH deployment/first turn rolls and it threw me off to start the game

Image

My army has a decent amount of assault...they are just slow and you didn't see me use it much this game

The invictor + bjorn + ironclad can hit hard

My goal is never to reach enemy DZ

I want to take midfield and dominate it when possible

Other games I want to hide and be sneaky with lone operative units out of LOS doing my midfield scoring

Round 2 v Aeldari (Sunday 1130am pst)

GT draw M4

Purge the Foe (his revenant and wraithguard brick make hold more and kill more easy)
Chilling Rain
Crucible of Battle

This...is gonna be an uphill battle for me

His army

Spoiler

Faction - Aeldari

Detachment - Unparalleled foresight

Farseer - Singing spear, Phoenix Gem (80)

Autarch Wayleaper - star glaive, reaper launcher, banshee mask (80) WARLORD

Death jester - Fates messenger (85)

Spiritseer (65)

10 Wraithguard - wraithcannons (310)

5 shadow spectres (80)

5 shadow spectres (80)

5 shadow spectres, shadow spectre exarch (100)

Revenant titan, 2 sonic lances (1100)

Titan (T13) + farseer fortune combo means wounding on 5s or 6s even with dedicated AT guns....ooooof

Wraithguard are insanely broken as well.  They get free reactive shots whenever they are attacked (melee and ranged)

Thanks for the input! It certainly looked like you were taken aback by the deployement and 1st turn roll, but you recovered well enough. I like the general plan and the fact you are making good use of Scouts. It just stinks that they're going away soon, I really like to play scouts as a Raptor.

Next game looks like it will be very hard indeed, I wish you all the luck you can get.

I laughed when I realized I still had like 7/10 scouts alive at the end

I 100% expected them die instantly when I deployed them

Gonna have to replace them with more infiltrators + librarian now

Immune to shooting is a key combo I rely to score with my cagey style of play

That one has just been errated today. Wraithguard don't gain the Pistol keyword anymore so no blasting their opponents in melee.

unfortunately for me the old rules are in effect until the next battle is over

i face full powered wraithguard combo sunday...

I gave it my all guys but I ended up drawing with the Aeldari

And b/c I was the lowest ranked he got the default win to move on

Hell of a game though

You put up a great effort though. I was so surprised you didn't run away with it considering your opponent's terrible rolls.

I made some mistakes early that had a domino effect and cost me the game.

Invictor should have been dropped onnleft side to hunt his damn spectres and own his dz objective

i should have tactical doctrine and fallen back iron clad then wiped wraith with bjorn + lancers

Letting them live cost me the damn WW which was needed for end game

I was the underdog and had odds stacked against me.   I had a chance but it slipped through my fingers.

I recognize my failing and will be sure to correct it
