Suppressor Squad

Doing a little Company/Chapter building. Setting up a Gravis Company, so going through the index to make sure I don't miss any Gravis equipped Marines.

Suppressors do not have an armour keyword. At first I though it was because they had jump packs, but Inceptors also have jump packs, but have the gravis keyword as well.

Do we (well, any of you, because clearly I DO NOT) know why there is no armour keyword here?

I’m fairly certain I’ve heard that before but for the love of me personally when making themed list I could care less what “armor” the guy driving a Whirlwind or any vehicle is sporting. Except for maybe the Invictor.

Sorry got off topic. Whatever it is I have to agree Suppressors definitely don’t wear Gravis.

The Lexicanum describes the Omnis-Pattern armor worn by the Suppressors as a variant of Gravis armor and denotes a reference of 40a. Unfortunately, when I looked at the reference table, there was no 40a reference:confused:

The last two Space Marine codices do not list Mk X Gravis armor in the keyword area for Suppressors, but all codices do list Mk X Gravis in the keyword section for Inceptors. There is the outside possibility that this was an oversite on the part of the authors, but I don't think that's likely two times in a row:no: I have to give this to GW Space Marine codices for the win:yes: I don't think it even looks like Gravis armor in any respect, except maybe for the heavy boots.

For what little it may be worth, I'm putting together a Gravis armor company myself, and although I love the Suppressors from a narrative standpoint, without clear reference, I'm not including them in that unit's order of battle.

Omnis is indeed not Gravis.

Omnis is Omnis.

Also, Mark X armor is completely modular as far as I remember, so that a tacticus wearing intercessor, who's an aggressor tomorrow, or a phobos inursor the next, is in part wearing the same armor in all three engagements. You build the armor onto the marines undersuit, getting different patterns with what pieces you put on.

Honestly, the omnis being a gravis variant thing seemed just to be a shadowspear writer pulling at the fact that it was another primaris "jump" unit, introduced when the Gravis Inceptor had been sole case until then. This description seems to have stuck despite nothing in the design really suggesting a kinship, except perhaps that grav plate equipped boots, and perhaps that a given Omnis or Gravis configuration may share pieces between them (as would they presumably with tacticus and phobos variants.)

Codex: Vanguard Space Marines (ie: the booklet that came with Shadowspear) directly quotes Omnis as: "a blend of the heavier Gravis configuration and the lighter Mk X versions favoured by other Vanguard Space Marines units."

I don't personally read that as being a variant, but I'd also concede one could certainly interpret it as so.
