Very Chaotic list. Trying a bunch of units.

So I want to just get some reps in with Chaos and honestly I don't care if I win. I'm looking to field a bunch of stuff that looks fun, and thematic.

 

I am thinking that most of this is incoherent and goofy, but maybe if you folks could have a look and tell me if you see anything I'm missing like a great character, or piece of wargear or unit that truly is missing or really should be considered for a unit.

 

Basically this is a bash of my Iron Warriors and Black Legion.

 

Let by Abaddon. (He will join Termies. To clarify it is for sure that the unit he joins gets the benefit of ALL marks?)

Chaos Lord (I've wanted to use the old Hammer/Plasma dude forever, and this may FINALLY be his edition! He will join Chosen)

Exalted Champ (to also join Chosen).

Dark Commune. (Great unit I always wanted to paint to join something I worked hard on: (I will post better pics tomorrow)

 

Accursed Cultists x16 MOK

Cultists x 20 2 Flamers MOK

Pred Annihilator. (I need something to punch back with. And I don't like the look of Havocs right now.) MON

Termies x 10 ( 8 Combi Weapons (Mortals on 4+ vs infantry ) 2 Autocannons, 9 accursed weapons, 2 chainfist) MON

Chosen x 10 ( 4 Combi Weapons, 2 Plasma pistols, 9 accursed weapons, 1 double accursed weapons, Icon) MoN

Forgefiend (Ecto plasma x3) MoN

Helbrute ( Twin Las/Fist: Using Dark Ascension to boost himself + Predator ?)

Venomcrawler (Just for something that moves over 6" lol)

 

 

I know the list isn't tight. It's mostly a lot of elite infantry, and cheap infantry pushing forward based on blobs of cultists herded by the Dark Commune and I guess Abaddon can give them a 4++ but he may be busy with the Terminators.

 

There is a real lack of speed here, and my heavy weapons are limited. I wanted to get Legionaires in but with Chosen I saw no point in them...? Also really wanted Oblits in as they've been a staple for me since they had bad hairdos and were metal, but they are too expensive and seem too random.

 

Anything look way off here or any suggestions for minor tweaks?

Great looking list! I'll be very interested to see how it plays as I've not yet gotten a chance to give CSM a chance yet!

When the become one unit, they confer all keywords to each other so the entire unit would get all Chaos Marks + other keywords like Character etc. It's the same if you were to put a model with FLY or Psyker in the unit, the entire unit would also gain those keywords

 

Are you going for combat Cultists with their MoK? Lethal Hits on 5s should help them swing into most things

Yea, the cultists are going to start blocking my zone out from infiltration/deep strike which I find to be a problem lately, especially with smaller, elite armies that I am using.

 

But the end game is to get them involved. Especially the accursed gang since they will be attached to the Dark Commune which is something that interested me since the first dataslate cards dropped. The idea of bringing back models on both you and your opponent's turns and hitting hard as a 'cultist' is promising to me plus the bigger ones (mutants?) really are like possessed to me. I feel like this blob of sub humans has a real potential.

 

Again, this is all just theory for me. I'm playing Nids tonight. (I usually don't know who my opponent is but tonight is different however I try to make no effort to list tailor. I'd try this list out against anything for test purposes.)

I like your list. It will do fine because it does in include 4 units that were common CSM meta units at last weekend's Tacoma Open (Abbie, Termie bricks, Chosen, and Forgefiend).

 

I wouldn't worry too much about your armies' lack of speed.  The board sizes have been smaller since 9th and with objectives being in the middle of the board speed is nice but less important--you will often get to melee by Turn 2.  (I've found speed really helps you to get secondaries though). Plus the Chosen have advance and charge so they are deceptively fast.

 

While I love Chosen, I've found Khornate Legionaries worth it as well. They are a bit cheaper, with the Mark of Khorne they still pack a punch, and many of my 10th edition games have come down to brawls on objectives where OC2 really matters. Khornate Legionaries and Chosen complement each other nicely.

 

You might want to give your Predator Annihilator the Mark of Slaanesh for sustained or Mark of Chaos Undivided for re-rolling 1s. The main gun already re-rolls to wounds which is kind of like the Mark of Nurgle's auto-wounding.

 

Yes, I've found keeping a couple of Cultist or Traitor Guard Squads and a Pred back in my deployment zone wonderfully denies enemy deep-strikers.

Thanks for the input. I think the speed factor is more, as you say, a scoring concern. Last games I've had I noticed the cards that have you moving can be quite punishing if you aren't already 'halfway there' as your opponent has almost too much time to react so the scoring for me seems to be hit hard by that lack of speed.

 

I'm sure one day I'll get around to raptors + Harkaan for that and/or bikes, but for now I'm just trying these units out for fun so I'm okay with a loss.
