Dwango
As it says in the title, I'm after recommendations for tablets I can use instead of transporting loads of books around whilst gaming. I'd like to avoid apple as the minimal experience I've had with the brand I've struggled to get to grips with the functionality of it. Cheers. DemonGSides
I have a Microsoft Surface I keep some of my documents on during 9th, and I keep a copy of the rulebook on for quick Ctrl+f'ing of specific rules. It's a laptop that can act as a tablet, and is very responsive. I find most tablets to be pretty slow in responsiveness. Dwango
Yeah that's my concern. I have a galaxy 2.0 that's pretty old. I've factory reset it but it's still pretty slow, and that's before I've put any apps on it. Craig
Amazon fire tablets are pretty cheap and I have always got on well using them for codex scrolling. Dwango
Do they have a good amount of memory to store the Dex's? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/379616-best-tablet-for-accessing-rule-books-etc/#findComment-5973949 Share on other sites
Solution Firedrake Cordova Posted July 22, 2023 Solution Share Posted July 22, 2023 (edited) The Fire HD's have limited internal memory, but you can insert a microSD card to greatly expand that (I have a Fire HD with 16GB internal memory and a 256GB microSD card that I use for audiobooks). They do not come with the Google Play store installed on them, and it's not officially supported - you have sideload it if you want that (which is an "at your own risk" kind of thing). As a general rule, the Fire HD tablets are well-built and have better specs than the price would suggest - I assume because Amazon are using them as a loss-leader for consuming their services on them. My 8" Fire HD is pretty slow for things like web browsing, but there again it is an old model (8th generation) - the newer 12th generation model should be a lot faster, and the 10" one should be faster still.
