Yeah, that's Kroot all right. Probably a new Carnivore kit. Hopefully a separate release of plastic Hounds & a new Krootox.

I can see the kroot anatomy argument, but I really don’t think it’s as simple as just a new Carnivore squad. Apart from the hand layout, the actual physical features of it, and the armour, look nothing like the current Kroot, and seeing as we’ve had modern Kroot models that basically look like the old Carnivore squad, I doubt they’d be this drastically different.

Agreed. I'm inclined to think Krootox given the knuckle plate - it feels a bit more appropriate on the big boy given their better melee output. The arm guard would be new, but I could see it fitting in as well.

The Warcom Facebook link in the article for feedback/comments/guesses is for their AoS page, so I'm assuming its not 40K.

They tend to put links on the 40k, AoS and FW pages regardless of content. I really wouldn't read anything into that.

I think it's probably a four fingered hand, it's just shown from a confusing angle

As to what it might be, I would lean towards Blood Bowl. There are two classic teams yet to make it into plastic and it could easily be for Vampires or perhaps (less likely) a Hobgoblin for the Chaos Dwarf team :D

The raised stripes on the arm bracer remind me of Orlock gang armour.

It's big. At least Ogryn size.

Dark finger nails, so doesn't look human colouring.

A chaos dwarf blood bowl bull centaur perhaps? An Orlock brute?

Or something to expand the 40k beastmen beyond killteam - a space minotaur?

The fingernails dont look Krootish and Kroot arent the only race with two fingers and two thumbs, Zoats do too. And i think the hand looks closer to the Blood Bowl Zoat rather than anything Kroot (although i would be very pleased to be wrong).

It doesn’t really look anything like the Zoat either though, which has claws pretty prominent claws.

I'd considered Zoats when I posted, but thought it unlikely for a number of reasons. Firstly, the BB Zoats hands do not look like that. It's nails are much longer and feral looking, they're almost talons. Secondly, Zoats are (in lore) "an exceptionally rare sight" and "all but unheard of" in Blood Bowl. So while I first thought a Zoat team due to the hand looking like the BSF Zoat and the armour looking like it could belong in BB, the lore seems to suggest that is highly unlikely.

As I mentioned, the hand looks most like the BSF Zoat, but the armour isn't even close. The BSF Zoat has very advanced and very alien armour. This isn't that. So as desperate as I am for more Zoats in 40k, I think that's even less likely than more in BB. Unless there's a completely different type of Zoat in the new Kill Team season. Definitely running on hope with that one, but it'd be so good if it was true!

I agree that it doesn't match a Kroot hand completely. But we've got an unresolved previous rumour engine that is 100% new Kroot, 2-3 other rumour engines that could well be Kroot, and Kroot are the oldest part of the T'au range. Plus they still have Finecast models. While I don't think this is a Kroot, it could well be a re-designed Krootox. The current Krootox is in Finecast so needs updating and if they decide to lean more into the simian nature of it (despite the name, it's clearly a Kroot gorilla) then this hand could fit.

Though I'll be honest, I'd much rather have more Zoats.

Zoats for AoS/ 40k then?...

AoS is due for a new edition next summer so wonder if the storyline will build to zoats coming back?...

Could huff the mega-hopium and say Zoats for TOW! But yeah, if it is indeed a Zoat then I'd say AoS is likely it's home.

There is actually no style element there that isnt also on the Kroot farstalker kit, the armguard that has a similar styling to house orlock stuff, also has similarities with the leg guard on one of the farstalker :

Spoiler

kroot_farstalker_kinband_3_body_3_large.

On the other hand its also very obviously not a kroot hand ( its way too big for starters.)

Somehow it reminded me of one of those abandoned Tau auxilery artworks ( wich is the second time in a short while, as the farstalker warbands strange weapons vaguely remind me of them too.)

I mean these :

In the end though... I dont expect them to be these... I somehow highly doubt its Blood bowl either ( the only thing that screams bloodbowl imho its the fact that its an open hand.. wich isnt exactly gold evidence.)

I could see it being a third zoat for WHU or Warcry this time. ( I highly doubt they bring stuff like zoat into the old world.)
