Welcome to part one of the Blood Angels Unit of the Week series!

Following the release of the 10th edition Index, there is no better time to discuss all the units we have access to. Each week a different unit will appear, with the idea being that we discuss how best to use that model on the battlefield. Where part one will discuss the units from the units found within Index: Blood Angels, parts two to four will discuss Index: Space Marines, part five will be Imperial Armour, and part six will be Legends.

Note, this isn't to lament any nerfs, etc, from previous editions; the rules are as they are so try to unlock its potential for those who wish to use them all the same. Similarly, this thread is only for using the option being discussed; it matters not if you feel something is a better choice as such comments aren't constructive to the topic and shall be removed.

Without further ado, here's this week's entry:

What are you thoughts here folks? How best would you play a Death Company Intercessors?

  • To compliment a list, or to build a list around?
  • Sons of Sanguinius or Gladius Task Force?
  • Are you keeping in within range of a Chaplain?
  • What wargear options are you choosing?
  • What delivery options are you using?
  • What deployment options are you using?
  • Stratagem synergy of note?

Over to you.

Please note that Death Company Marines and Death Company Marines with Jump Packs will be discussed elsewhere.

Updated!

Should you want your model on display here (or on another thread), then submit a photo here please.

(Once I work out how best to float it!)

As an aside, the thread setup may change over the coming weeks until I'm happy with them. This includes the photos.

If they had slightly better weapon options, they’d be alright. I think for them to be useful right now, you probably have to build around free overwatch or free heroic intervention - I’ve used the latter on a small 5 man squad and it was quite cool.

For 90 points they arre basically Intercessors with a 6++ and situational OC. I would probably go for BP/CS loadout with a Power Fist and then put them somewhere central and try to catch put enemies with a free HI.

Still doing great work in the community I see, thank you Jolemai! Good unit to feature as well.

I've seen lists do well with multiple small unit JP DC. They don't generate a lot of threat and they give you a big footprint. In saying that it's hard to justify attaching a character and that pretty much includes JPs only and then you'd want a 10 man squad to maximise buffs.

Foot DC also have different rules I am told with the bolter guys getting a free overwatch or heroic intervention. Overwatch is now any unit that moves within 24" so that's ok. Th heroic intervention is alright too, something wolves do well.

Also the land raider with assault ramp. Think DC on foot with B&CS would work well here as they are cheap enough that they won't table you if the land raider gets popped.

land raiders are seriously tough now and if it shoots, drops of the DC safely and screens some DS sanguinary guard I'd probably take that most battles.
