Spyboy
So first off I think I am in the right place to post a list. If not please let me know. Also if I make any mistakes in the format I will fix that as well. I'm just starting a gaurd army finally, so here is my goal to start. 1000pts. Mechanized Regiment CHARACTER Ursula Creed (55 points) • Warlord BATTLELINE Infantry Squad (65 points) • 1x Sergeant • 1x Plasma pistol • 1x Power weapon • 7x Guardsman • 1x Grenade Launcher • 1x Vox-caster • 1x Heavy Weapons Team • 1x Mortar Infantry Squad (65 points) • 1x Sergeant • 1x Plasma pistol • 1x Power weapon • 7x Guardsman • 1x Grenade Launcher • 1x Vox-caster • 1x Heavy Weapons Team • 1x Autocannon Infantry Squad (65 points) • 1x Sergeant • 1x Plasma pistol • 1x Power weapon • 7x Guardsman • 1x Grenade Launcher • 1x Vox-caster • 1x Heavy Weapons Team • 1x Autocannon DEDICATED TRANSPORT Chimera (85 points) • 1x Chimera heavy flamer • 1x Heavy flamer • 1x Heavy stubber • 1x Hunter-killer missile Chimera (85 points) • 1x Chimera heavy flamer • 1x Heavy flamer • 1x Heavy stubber • 1x Hunter-killer missile OTHER DATASHEETS Field Ordnance Battery (120 points) • 2x Ordnance Team • 2x Bombast field gun Manticore (125 points) • 1x Heavy bolter • 1x Hunter-killer missile Manticore (125 points) • 1x Heavy bolter • 1x Hunter-killer missile Scout Sentinels (150 points) • 3x Scout Sentinel • 3x Hunter-killer missile • 3x Lascannon • 3x Sentinel chainsaw Tempestus Scions (60 points) • 1x Tempestor • 1x Plasma pistol • 1x Power fist • 4x Tempestus Scion • 1x Hot-shot lasgun • 1x Hot-shot laspistol • 1x Hot-shot volley gun • 1x Plasma gun • 1x Vox-caster The idea behind it is simple, creed joins the Infantry Squad with the mortar for free fields of fire every turn. The armoured fist squads and the Sentinels fight for the objectives while respawing Sentinels as often as possible. Arty pounds everything dangerous. Scions for mission play. This list also uses the majority of the combat patrol which I will probably start with. Thoughts anyone? duz_ 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/380039-1000pts-goal-to-start/ Share on other sites
Cadian Bandstand
Don't know the technical terminology, i think some people call them 'mid table bullies' those units that can crunch people off of objectives and grab them for themselves. 1000 points is tricky, but id love to see something like a hellhound or LM in there. Your more solid units are artillery, so looking to grab the objectives with Chimeras could work. Who do you mainly play against? My two main opponents play Eldar and gaurd/orks, but there is a local gaming club I could go to and I don't know what the meta is there. I was looking at a hellhound, I would have to cut an armoured fist squad or a manticore for it though. Lemans russ would require even more cuts then that. Cadian Bandstand
Trial by fire is always the best. On Monday i have a 2k points battle vs Necrons, i am chucking in Tauroxes, rough riders, ratlings etc. Not an optimal list but what it will give me a better indication of what works for me. Guard squads are squishy, the chimeras are pretty solid, it seems though that if they pop those chimeras then you may struggle to keep hold of objectives, but it looks fun, i am trying out the bombast field artillery for the first time in my next game too. Ya I know, that is the part that has me concerned. But I do have Scout Sentinels to help with that. Let me know how the bombasts do. I think they are overcosted but they still could be good. TCC
Not a bad list but you don’t have much anti tank, the bomblast are way over costed and with cover they really don’t deal much damage (you don’t benefit from -1AP on the unit the stratagem is spent on) I would swop the bomblast out for a mortar team and a heavy weapon team (I find success with the auto cannons - keep them still to get heavy and auto wounds). Cadian Bandstand
so played a 2K battle vs Necrons, ended in a 51vp/51vp draw! (first draw for me ever) Bombast field guns; bit meh. With the blast profile if you don't pump it into blobs then you feel that its wasted, and with Strength 7 and 2 damage its not good enough to damage vehicles. I pumped it into Necron Blobs but with reanimation they didnt do anything. My manticore however was doing a brilliant job of chipping off damage to tanks and monsters and for the points is better than the field guns. I feel they'd be worth it at around the sub 100 point mark. Telling you now, and ive had several games, the best unit i can field is armoured sentinels with lascannons. they always perform and the 2+ armour save is brilliant. Well I'll keep them in mind for early expansion into. The bombasts have to stay in the list for now as they are from the combat patrol, but at current point costs it looks like they will be first on the choosing block. Maybe trade them out for a hellhound if I can find 5 points somewhere. Sergeant Bastone
Yeah, the FOBs should probably be 80-90 points. If you want to be outraged check out desolation marines that have the same 7 -1 2 profile but hit on 2+ and ignore the indirect penalty and ignore cover. They cost 34 points to our bombast's 60 points. They're such great models but GW is determined to make them overcosted so i can't put them on the table. If you want armoured sentinels all you have to do is put the armour on them. The kit is awesome. Spyboy
Well that is ridiculous, and can't desolation marines ignore the indirect penalty as well? FOBs really need to be cheaper, especially the non bombard variants. Ya I'm working on my first model for this army, a sentinal. I'm magnatizing all the options and the roof so it can be either sentinal. Sergeant Bastone
You don't even need any magnets. Just glue the armour to itself and not the roll bar and then it's easy to take on and off. All of the weapons push-fit on nicely and are easy to swap. Spyboy
Ya I'm not using magnets for the armour, just the weapons and the searchlight and smoke launchers. I saw they were push fit but I think the magnets will be better as they won't wear out.
