As the title says would you like if GW designed model with magnets in mind?

Personally I would love to see premade holes for magnets in Space Marine and other models..

Perhaps for heads, power packs and arms.

And if you don't like to use magnets, the premade holes would be perfect to make a pin to make a stronger bond, perhaps from the leftover sprues.

But maybe it would be harder to kitbash, after all if the holes are not if the angle that you want, it just something you need to fill to before moving on.

What do you think?

Absolutely. At the very least Vehicles and Dreadnoughts should be designed with magnets in mind. We know GW can do it as the Titanicus range is almost entirely designed for magnetisation.

I don't particularly care for magnets, but I don't actually play big 40k, so all my monsters and vehicles that would be magnet bait are just pretty shelf decorations. It wouldn't particularly bother me if they were made for magnets

They already did this with a couple of the Forge World dreadnought models for the Custodes. The Telemon is the best example of this. They even specified the size before, but that no longer seems to be on the page.

Theres no debate to be had really, it would obviously be better for hobbyists if they did design for magnets, even if we chose not to use those options. From GWs point of view they could even sell Citadel branded magnet packs at a healthy markup, but the handful of exceptions already mentioned aside, they won't do it because they'd rather you bought 2 Autarch kits rather than easily give you the means to switch the model around between games.

Depends on the kit, bigger joins it should be fine but if im losing surface area on infantry shoulder joints or the like itll be a big pain in the backside and id rather not.

They designed some of the 30k kits already with magnetization in mind as well. Both the Contemptor and Leviathan Dreadnoughts have magnet holes in them. The predator as well makes sure there's duplicates of parts for the turret, so you can make every single gun out of one kit.

So I don't think it's a stretch that this may happen, but I don't think we're there yet for the main 40k design team to do it.

It would be great if they did make their kits with magnets in mind, especially for larger model that are a pain in the breastplate to transport or store safely with all the arms/wings/dangly bits some of them have!

Just don't see it happening unfortunately on more mass produced stuff or smaller kits.
