abaumann
With the points of allied Bloodletters now going down, a unit of 10 bloodletters with an icon and instrument plus an attached Skulltaker is about the same cost as a unit of 5 Possessed and MoP. Thinking of these two units compared to each other for smaller games, or as a small suicide unit in larger games, which one comes out on top in your minds? Possessed certainly have more survivability, but can’t DS. I guess another question is, do you get the benefit of Shadow of Chaos if you are taking allied bloodletters in a CSM army? Bloodletters automatically get dev wounds with the Skulltaker, which is great. Ultimately looking for an excuse to drop a Bloodletter bomb in small games, sounds like fun, especially with the great chance of charges happening. Sounds like a promising swap if you can use Shadow of Chaos… Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/380582-allied-bloodletters-vs-possessed/ Share on other sites
Wind Whistler
Allied units in general do not get the benefit of any of their own army or detachment rules. The only abilities they get are the ones printed on their data sheet. With that in mind, possessed >> bloodletters in CSM, but bloodletters are fine in casual games of course if you like their style… Dr_Ruminahui and LSM 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/380582-allied-bloodletters-vs-possessed/#findComment-5988583 Share on other sites
Dr_Ruminahui
What WW says about the rules is correct - for reference, you need to look at the first 2 pages of the Demon Index and note that both the Army and Faction rules sections begin with "If your Army faction is LEGIONES DEMONICA" - which means neither rules apply if you are playing Chaos Space Marines, as that requires your army faction to be HERETIC ASTARTES. abaumann
Ah…bummer. My bad, missed that in the text somehow. Maybe I’ll try it out anyway! SanguinaryGuardsman
Bloodletters are terrible even in daemon lists. Too expensive, not enough attacks, unit sizes are too small, and fragile. If you want a deepstrike threat for less points just take 5 warptalons.
