I presume I have this right, but just checking in with my 3 armed colleagues:

If I include Brood Brothers in my GSC army, in this instance a Leman Russ, am I right in thinking that:

1)  It doesn't lose the AM keywords, and likewise doesn't gain GENESTEALER CULTS keywords

2) As such, it isn't affected by the day of ascension detachment rule

3) Is it affected by Cult Ambush? That is not keyword triggered, but seems to apply to the whole army if the faction is GENESTEALER CULTS, and the Brood Brothers are in your army as per the wording of Brood Brothers.

Thanks in advance!

1. Yes - nothing in the Brood Brothers box changes the faction keywords of Guard units.

2. Yes again. The Russ isn't a GSC unit, so won't trigger the detachment rule (in this case - other detachments may work differently in the future).

3. No. Cult Ambush is a faction ability - it appears as a specific ability on some (but not all) GSC datasheets. Units without that ability (generally vehicles and characters) cannot go into Cult Ambush, and don't even make a roll.

As a Russ doesn't have the Cult Ambush ability, it isn't affected by the rule.

Yes. I added a Dorn tank to my list mainly to get that heavy firepower punch. But I only use it selectively depending on what I will be facing. Since it doesn’t synergize as well as normal GSC units. But can be useful.
