jaxom
RAVEN GUARD – RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE DETACHMENT RULE Corax favoured descending upon his foes from on high and the Raven Guard continue to do so. The Unseen, named as a jest by their Primarch, epitomize this approach to warfare but are not the only ones to do so. Battle groups with member prone to the Sable Brand also often strike ‘unseen’, as Corax jested, ‘because the foe is dead.’ If your Army Faction is Adeptus Astartes, you can use this Raven’s Jest Assault Force Detachment rule. RESTRICTIONS Your army can include Raven Guard units, but it cannot include any Adeptus Astartes units drawn from any other Chapter. LESSONS OF KIAVAHR The sons of Corax have preserved the swift and deadly fighting style of which the 19th Legion was once the master. Most suited to lightning claws, these are readily adapted to everything from chainswords to power fists, the battle-postures of the Raven Guard are reliant on speed and feint more than punishing force. When an Adeptus Astartes Infantry unit from your army makes a Charge move, any equipped melee weapons gain the [Twin-Linked] ability until the end of the Fight phase. RAVEN GUARD – RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE STRATAGEMS Shooting Phase Fight Phase 1 CP Armour of Contempt RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – BATTLE TACTIC STRATAGEM The belligerence of the Adeptus Astartes, combined with their transhuman physiology, makes them unyielding foes to face. WHEN: You opponent’s Shooting phase or Fight phase, just after an enemy unit has selected its targets. TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes unit from your army that was selected as the target of one or more of the attacking unit’s attacks. EFFECT: Until the end of the phase, each time an attack targets your unit, worsen the Armour Penetration of that attack by 1. Shooting Phase 1 CP See, But Remain Unseen RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – STRATEGIC PLOY STRATAGEM To fight the Raven Guard is to battle half-seen spectres. Only at a time of their choosing do they step from the shadows to engage the disorientated foe. WHEN: You opponent’s Shooting phase, just after an enemy unit has selected its targets. TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes Infantry unit from your army that was selected as the target of one or more of the attacking unit’s attacks. EFFECT: Until the end of the phase, each time an attack targets your unit, subtract 1 from the hit roll. Until the end of phase, the target unit cannot be targeted by enemy units more than 12” away. Fight Phase 1 CP Sable Brand RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – EPIC DEED STRATAGEM Marked by a battle-brother’s eyes becoming completely black, the Raven Guard are prone to fighting with a cold-blooded determination with results equal to the most bloodthirsty beserk. WHEN: Fight phase. TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes Infantry unit from your army. EFFECT: Until the end of the Fight phase, add one to wound rolls for melee attacks made by models in the unit. Fight Phase 2 CP Shadow Killers RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – EPIC DEED STRATAGEM The withdrawn and brooding malice of the sons of Corax can quickly turn into a fury with no regard for self-preservation. WHEN: Fight phase, just after an enemy unit has selected its targets. TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes unit from your army that was selected as the target of one or more of the attacking unit’s attacks. EFFECT: Until the end of the phase, each time a model in your unit is destroyed, if that model has not fought this phase, do not remove it from play. The destroyed model can fight after the attacking model’s unit has finished making its attacks, and is then removed from play. Movement Phase Charge Phase 1 CP Piercing Shriek RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – WAR GEAR STRATAGEM Modulated to mimi the hunting cries of the giant rocs native to their home world, Raven Guard jump packs create a cacophony that chills the foe to their very bones. WHEN: Your Movement phase, before you have moved any units. TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes Jump Pack unit from your army that is not within Engagement range of an enemy unit. EFFECT: After deploying from Reserves or completing a Charge move, each enemy unit within 12" of your unit must take a Battle-shock test. If the unit taking that test is Below Half-strength, subtract 1 from that test. Charge Phase 1 CP Unerring Charge RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – BATTLE TACTIC STRATAGEM The Raven Guard swoop into battle like dark-winged angels of vengeance. WHEN: Your Charge phase. TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes unit which would not normally be eligible to Charge because it Advanced or Fell Back this turn. EFFECT: The unit can declare a Charge. RAVEN GUARD – RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE ENHANCEMENTS VOICES OF THE DEAD Those most deeply marked by the Sable Brand find it impossible to differentiate between the words of the living and the whispers of the dead. Fallen battle-brothers seem to provide guidance and aid from beyond the veil of death. Adeptus Astartes model only. While this model’s unit is Below Starting Strength, you can re-roll hit rolls of 1 when making attacks with the model’s equipped melee weapons. While this model’s unit is Below Half-Strength, you can re-roll all hit rolls when making attacks with the model’s equipped melee weapons. THE EBONCLAWS Crafted for a long lost champion of the Raven Guard, the night-black blades of these ancient weapons have remained viciously sharp through centuries of war. Adeptus Astartes model only. Improve the AP of the model’s equipped melee weapons by 1. RAVEN’S FURY At first glance, this jump pack appears little different to any other in the Raven Guard armoury. However, closer inspection reveals it to be a technological marvel, now well beyond the skills of the Imperium’s finest artificers. With miniaturised plasma-engines in place of traditional ram jets, the Raven’s Fury provides its wearer with a lightning turn of speed when boosting into battle. Adeptus Astartes Jump Pack model only. The model gains the Fights First ability. SWIFT AND DEADLY Raven Guard leaders seize every opportunity to strike while the initiative is theirs. Adeptus Astartes model only. This model’s unit can be chosen to Charge even if they Advanced during the turn.
