Fresh off today's reveals we get pictures of the new Imotekh model, which is very close to 1:1 from the old model, and news of the Codex's release.

Also of note is that Imotekh is "just one of the new miniatures" being released.

Some nice looking new artwork for the Codex:

The five Detachments have been named:

Awakened Dynasty (from the Index)

Hypercrypt Legion

Obesiance Phalanx

Canoptek Court

Annihilation Legion

We get to see an interesting relocation stratagem involving Infantry and a Monolith for the Hypercrypt Legion:

As well as a "fight on death" Enhancement for the Annihilation Legion:

Something I noticed is that the advertised datasheets is a little less than what's in the Index. My guess is we'll see a few of the Finecast characters dropped. As for new models my first guess would be new C'Tan models for the Nightbringer/Deceiver and/or models from the Royal Court individually packed. Second guess involves a tinfoil hat and redone Immortals and Deathmarks as separate kits. Honorable mention for updated Lokhust Destroyer and Lord kits.

How does everyone feel about the news so far, any speculation on what we'll see in this release?

He looks fine, pretty much a bigger, more modern version of his old model. I'm more interested in what the new detachments will bring as far as enhancing gameplay.

My hope would be for them to finally get regular Lokhust Destroyers an updated model, but most likely we'll just get another couple of special characters re-done.

The Necron rumor engine is definitely not Imotekh. Like the model a lot, the finecast one wouldve been fine if it wasnt in finecast so a higher detail plastic remake is perfect for me.

Is this what you're referring to? I'm having a hard time not seeing a scythe with the square-pattern aesthetic from the Void Dragon.

Could be anything I suppose, but the Finecast C'Tan could use an update given the spectacle that is the Void Dragon. As much as I love my Nightbringer it is a bit of a tiny model.

There were brief descriptions in the article, which I should probably have linked in my post, though the names of the Detachments offer as much insight as the sentences that featured them. The only overlap seemed to be the Awakened Dynasty and Obesiance Phalanx which both favour characters attached to units/leading from the front. I think I'm most curious about the Annihilation Legion and Canoptek Court since those are both play styles I've long hoped to see represented in the rules.

EDIT: I was just perusing the Necron range and noticed both Imotekh and Orikan have been marked as "no longer available online".

The person(s) that origionally dropped the rumor for what was to come with our codex accurately predicted a new Imotekh. They also said a new Orikan and a new lord kit with multiple options. We will have to see. Note, that in the online store, imotekh is "no longer available" (for obvious reasons) but so is Orikan. And I am not seeing the lokhust destroyer lord at all.

I think the reduction in datasheets means one of the units going away is the lokhust lord.

Le gasp.

I certainly hope that it means the Lord will be one of the units getting redone.

In terms of datasheets, I count 50 compared to the WarCom article's 47. Anrakyr, Zahndrekh, and Obyron seem the easy targets for the axe. I really thought the push-fit Overlord was going to be an Anrakyr resculpt, when it wasn't I sort of figured we'd lose the character eventually for lack of a unique loadout. Trazyn is also a bit of an odd character for the battlefield, I could see that exclusion as well.

All that being said, it could just be a typo or error.

A few thoughts…

First off I admit I have not been able to force myself to play Necrons in 10th. I have the cards but the feel to me is a bit less dynamic and more character driven than I’d like. However they’re still my favourite Xenos and I plan on getting the codex.

I love Imotekh and he used to be a very popular iconic character. I just hope he’s a better choice in this codex. Looks wise I like him. He has always reminded me of the very first metal Necron lord released after the white dwarf article that portrayed them as space pirates.

I do think they could have done something a little special with his glowy fist but I love the cloak.

I burned out painting what would be my 5th or 6th Necron army. I really don't really want to sell this one, but I really got bored of all the metallics after I did the warrior grind. Trying to reinvent ways of aging metals. I’m hoping to feel inspired by some of the art, or alternative paint schemes in this codex.  The background and feel of the army has always been awesome.

I could see Zahndrekh and Obyron going away an Cryptothralls being part of a unit with the Crypteks, similar to how the Dark Apostel works.

I would really hate to see Anrakyr go, he is my favourite Necrom character with one of the coolest powers in the setting.

I wouldn't be surprised to lose some named characters. Lokhust Lord is another likely candidate.  If not ome of those, I don't know what it would be, since everything else is pretty recent plastics. There aren't many datasheets I could see them combining. I guess maybe they could make the Destroyer Lords one datasheet with different loadouts but I'd be very surprised if they did. The Crypteks just got split so that'd be surprising if they combined them, too. Not impossible, though.

I was just reading Trazyn's ability and it doesn't call out the Lokhust Lord as a character he can't replace like with the Skorpekh Lord. Again, could be a typo, but with the Index and Codex release so close together it could be foreshadowing.

I could see Cryptothralls getting rolled into the Cryptek datasheets, though I wonder if that isn't just creating more work for the editors trying to fit everything onto the cards.

I guess the real trick is that if the Lokhust Lord is to stay it will need a new model that fits the theme of the LHDs. If that happens they're only a weapon option away from redoing the other kit, but then we're looking at Trazyn, Orikan, Lord, Lokhust Lord, Lokhust Destroyers. Sort of seems like too big of a release for a normal, not-part-of-the-starter-box, Codex release. Specially if there's a resculpted C'Tan lurking in the shadows somewhere.

Guess I'm just sad that one of my Necrons might hit Legends-only play. It's par for the course I suppose with an older collection.

Guess it wasn't a new Nightbringer.

Nice to have more Overlord models I guess?

I wonder if the not-so-old plastic Overlord will get the axe on this release, given it doesn't have the newer aesthetic. I hope not, truly, since that massive scythe has become integral to my army.

I was hoping that Rumor Engine was new Orikan or something. I do like this but the Overlord datasheet is gonna be so confusing to new players with all the weird restrictions to make it match our models.

The Overlord datasheet might be three loadouts for the three options, which would be more in line with what has recently happened to SM characters. Not sure why anyone would take any non-ResOrb option these days though.

Orikan is a huge player with 2 stat lines, I almost hope he gets two models though I doubt it will happen.

Old marine bikes and (much bigger) outrider merged into 1 entry when 10th codex launched.

Would all the flying destroyers do the same?

Lokhust used to be two datasheets but you could take 1 heavy with the normal ones, now they're just two separate datasheets. I doubt we'll see them combined again unless there's new models included, but even then I'd say it's more likely that they will be made more distinct from each other if it happens.

They could. You can already take Heavy Destroyers in a Destroyer unit so they could reword it to be either/or. I don't think that's as likely though as just dropping some of the finecast options. Would be nice though!

Edit: Ntaw is correct, I was mistaken. They are completely separate now.

Wee are indeed getting a new Orkian model! Another one very similar to the original pose and featuring a tactical rock.

Also another campaign book! I particularly enjoy bespoke missions of any sort since it lets me pull from a wider variety of source material when making my own campaigns. The last one I concocted used various aspects of the Psychic Awakening missions and was very fun to put together.

Really looking forward to the campaign book for sure... and next spring I might actually have the time to play! Plus, that cover looks badass. Orikan's got his ups and downs for me but it's a cool model overall--was hoping that that'd mean a new Trazyn, also, but alas--another time, perhaps.

Orikan is not a must-buy for me, but I also rarely want to use named characters.  Maybe a simpler paint scheme would look better on him, as he's a bit too busy for me in these pics.

Speaking of his paint job, is there a reason Orikan has Nihilakh colors despite being Sautekh? I know he always has but I never really questioned it before.

I agree on the campaign. As a matter of fact I just started one up! So as long as this isn't too expensive, I may do the same thing and add some components to my Christmas campaign!

Necrons get so few new add ons since Indomitus, I gotta add this guy. I agree he's a bit busy though. Perhaps if his carapace was black instead?

I do love my Ophydian and Skorpekh Destroyers. I don't see this being particulary good though. I have to be honest, I've used the Monolith a few times, and thought I -could- assault out of it (just like a deep strike). Looks like I was wrong, but in all fairness I only used it to relocate Warriors, or Immortals out of close combat.

I have never used the Monolith to grab an assault unit for respositioning. That's why I don't think this is going to be something I use personally. The Monolith is huge, and the tables are loaded in terrain. No one really wants to get that close to a monolith and it doesn't move enough to really allow you to 'sneak' up on someone with it and let an assault bomb go. At least I haven't found this to be the case.

I'd like to see Flayed ones get a bit of a touch up though. I just never use them anymore.
