NTaW
A bit of salient information from today's article. Apparently Imotekh is striking out on his own! How very Necron of him Quote Unbeknownst to the self-proclaimed greatest mind of Mars, the Necrons have become embroiled in a civil war. Dynasties loyal to the Silent King are locked in combat with those who have aligned themselves with Imotekh the Stormlord – who has denounced the authority of the mute monarch. Tyriks
That blurb about the civil war was by far the most interesting tidbit in the article for me. Prot
On one hand I’m glad there’s a Necron storyline at play here. I just kind of wish it was a more collaborative effort rather than civil war. Necrons woke up and found the upstart children of the universe needed to be taught a lesson, but instead most of the Necron fiction ( a few novels as well) is almost entirely infighting. I’ll always look fondly on Imotekh. To me he’s he quintessential Necron lord. Mute Monarch be damned. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/380841-new-models-and-codex-news/page/2/#findComment-6004877 Share on other sites
Tyriks
Well, falling to infighting is a repeated theme in Necron history. So it at least fits with precedence. I may be biased though since my whole Dynasty is supposed to be someone proclaiming himself to be Szarekh's successor, so working with Szarekh wasn't ever gonna be an option for me. Prot
That's a cool theme. For me.... I think I've read every piece of Necron fiction, including some of the newer books which are cool. I do understand the dynasties experience infighting. It reminds me of the Dune novels. I'd just like to see a different direction for a while. Every book kind of has this "I am going to rule this whole damn thing" feel to it. For example I'd love to see an area of Indomitus where Necrons really threaten the Imperium (instead of each other). I'd like to see some of that explored. I am hoping the new codex does expand on the awakenings since Indomitus. As far as the figs, I was thinking of the Destroyer line. I'd love to see that upgraded. I was going through the old 6 destroyers I have. Fairly beaten up, and I don't really want to field them anymore. The newer, heavy Destroyer is just so much nicer to me. I know a lot of the characters appear to be getting the attention. Ironically I just finished doing a Nightbringer up I'll post. And he is my second Nightbringer. The original being metal, and this being Fail cast. (So delicate/brittle). It made me think a new Nightbringer with today's design techniques could be an absolutely stunning center piece. Tyriks
Anyone else feel that Imotekh looks better in person than the WarCom articles? He seems more substantial and imposing, I guess. Maybe it's just the lack of clear scale in the pictures. Daimyo-Phaeron Lenoch
Possibly? I picked up a resin Imotekh recently and he was a lot beefier than I thought he’d be. Short, but powerfully built. Szarekh is a LOT taller but much spindlier. Newmotekh’s lacking that chunkiness, I feel. And the chin not being half-set in his gorget is a point off for me, if I’ve not voiced that here. Prot
I haven’t seen new Imotekh yet. He’s still in the mail. Plus I’ve been painting like crazy. The Shroud lord looks better in person imho. Tyriks
Here's a scale reference of the new model: I expected him to be smaller than this based on the WHC articles. His body is almost as tall as a Skorpekh Lord's. And for the record, his chin is definitely set into his torso. Prot
Excellent. He looks the part and his posture/size is definitely more the part.
