Greetings fellow hobbyists,

Working on a new project and wanted to gather some opinions on the best purple paint out there (citadel or not citadel, the brand doesn't matter). Specifically, I am looking for a more vibrant, rich purple, closer to the red scale then blue (so not Naggaroth night, which I do like a lot). I am considering using phonecian purple, but wanted to see if there's a better option out there (particularly for non-citadel paints which I'm less familiar with). This is for a Legio Damicium project for AT, so I'm going for a purple close to picture below from War Com.

Warlord Purple & Hexed Lichen are my go to's for anything purple related, absolutely fantastic colours. If you're looking for a out of the pot colour close to that the only one that come to mind is Monarch Purple by Reaper, maybe a tad darker but applied over a light primer should be close. And forget the naysayers Reaper paints are really quite good

I would take a look at Monument Hobbies’ ProAcryl Royal Purple, Purple, and Plum to utilize as a Shadow -> Midtone -> Highlight to see if those colors might work for you.  I will admit to being a big ProAcryl fan though, so I typically suggest finding a way to use them and mix them.

You may also want to take a look at Reaper Masters Core paints Burgundy Wine (9025) -> Violet Red (9026) -> Pale Violet (9027) as a possibility that could be close to the colors in that War Com image.

If you’d like to look at Scale75, they have several paints that might work for you - Scalecolor Sunset Purple (SC33) as a shadow and Violet (SC56) as a midtone might both work, and then I would consider using Scalecolor Artist Pastel Violet (SART-45) looks like it might be a good highlight color.

Hope those might help!  Take a look and see if any those suit you.

I'll second ProAcryl.  I have liked every one of them that I've used.
