Sir Clausel
Hi everybody Im now using the old nuln oil for my armys main color and the new stuff dont stain the surface as much as the old stuff does. And i go through a pot pretty quick. So far i have managed. But i need to look for alternatives right now. I have Two Thin coats Oblivion Black wash which is just a tiny bit more grey. Anyone knows a better one? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/380906-best-old-nuln-oil-equivalent-wash/ Share on other sites
Firedrake Cordova
Have you tried Army Painter Dark Tone? Tale of Painters' review and Army Painter's test image might be handy. crimsondave, Spazmolytic and Sir Clausel 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/380906-best-old-nuln-oil-equivalent-wash/#findComment-5996576 Share on other sites
andes
Monument Hobby's Pro Acryl washes (black, brown, flesh) are the best I've yet seen. I still like Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade, but that's just because I'm used to them and know how they behave... once I figure out the Pro Acryl washes I doubt I'll look back. How close are they to the old Nuln Oil? Solution andes Posted October 20, 2023 Solution Share Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) You be the judge, I carelessly painted the model below with both. The left side in the pic (the model's right hand side) is old formula Nuln Oil. The right side is Pro Acryl Black Wash. FWIW, color wise they're near identical to my eye and the Pro Acryl went on smoother. Definitely identical or at least very very very close. I have nothing to add here, save to say that you are an absolute legend for doing that for someone! andes, Maschinenpriester, Firedrake Cordova and 1 other 3 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/380906-best-old-nuln-oil-equivalent-wash/#findComment-5996725 Share on other sites
