Overheads accounted for, GW make more money selling to trade than they do selling through their stores.

Quite the opposite actually. GW sell the product to them cheaper sure but they also don't pay their staff, their bills etc etc etc. 0% overheads on independants, If GW didn't care about recruiting new customers they'd scrap their own stores and make more money.

The vast majority of those are fixed costs for a store GW wants to keep open though, GW are gonna make more money if Dark Shepherd buys his stuff in a GW store rather than third party. It's just gonna be that making sure there is space for intro games and a welcoming store is prioritised over having regulars gaming to the extent they are okay with losing out on sales as a result

Twice might be wrong but GW tell their shareholders their cost is 30% of their retail price and they sell to trade at 60% sic

 

Overheads arent per item (which is what Im getting at here)

 

Overall they make more from trade than direct sales
