Horus Heresy Short Story - Help with ID

I’m hoping some of the lore buffs can help me work out which Black Library book contained a particular short story set post Istvaan 5. Unless I am going crazy, I’m fairly certain I heard it on one of the HH audiobooks. The somewhat vague details are below:

It was about a survivor of one of the Shattered Legions (I think a Salamander) in the aftermath of Istvaan 5. I recall there being the main protagonist but also an Iron Hands character who aids him. There is a hidden refuge with some wounded survivors of the atrocity. I think a Vorax hunts them?
 

I can’t remember why but the Salamander heads out solo to search for someone (perhaps Vulkan) or something and at some point is aided or rescued by the Iron Hands character. At the end the Salamander finds a cave which I think is the last place Vulkan was taken before being removed from the surface of Istvaan.

 
 

Any help identifying the story would be much appreciated!

I think the story you're looking for is the novella Scorched Earth by Nick Kyme, which you can buy on its own as an Ebook or as part of the 50th Horus Heresy book Born of Flame.
