WrackBros... we lost again...

The 5th edition Mandrake sculpts are one of those timeless classics that would be difficult to improve on, so hopefully they remain consistent with most of their (D)Eldar plastifications thus far and try to 1:1 them... though I foresee many Tactical Rocks in their future.

That's an interesting box, if true. I would imagine that'd see the start of a few dedicated upgrade sprues for CSM Legions. Roll on Iron Warriors, then.

And Word Bearers. Very exciting. Even a Black Legion one could be pretty interesting. Maybe even Red Corsairs.

Is wishing for a character model too much? Maybe :D

I think Jes Goodwin would probably physically attack, if someone tried to change his space elf designs too liberally

I wonder what unit the Upgrade sprue would be for? Surely not another Legionnaire killteam?

Mandrakes being updated is not an if but a when, being in Finecast GW definitely want rid of them! If they do an update akin to all other Eldar units so far we'll be absolutely sound. Mandrakes are iconic!

If this is true, I hope the upgrade sprues are more like the Black Templar upgrade kit and not the first founding blisters. Need at least 10 heads, 10-15 shoulders, and a bunch of flavory relics. A few chest plates and backpacks wouldn't be bad either.

They should do this for the space marines too. Now that the line is basically fully upgraded to Primaris, bring more of the chapter flavor back via expanded upgrades.

Agreed. If the "airborn" season turns out to be a thing I could see it being Raptors (though still very skeptical on this rumour) - chosen seems like a more likely option imo; then you could have some IW upgrades with Terminators one day?

Havocs and Bikers both seem unlikely options for this kind of box

I see it a different way. If this is true, I hope the upgrade sprues are more like other Kill Team sprues, and not like any of those. It needs to have bits focused on gameplay function - bits that clearly communicate a specialist's purpose as a gaming piece; comms, bombs, etc - rather than a bunch of cosmetic upgrades that only serve to make a regular 40k squad have nicer helmets.

Not to mention that should such a sprue arrive via Kill Team, GW will not pass up the chance to sell it only with the unit it's packaged with, no £20 Night Lord upgrade frame for you, instead you'll be buying Kill Team: Night Lords at £40-ish with a unit you may or may not have actually wanted

A situation like that would be a lose-lose for 40k players and Kill Team players in my eyes.

You mean like what happened after 3rd edition dark eldar and eldar releases lol? I heard he lovingly crafted a diorama showing the offender's demise on the end of a Mandrake's blade, which locked their psyche into a mystical unlife for all eternity. Jes has ever since been known as Kheradruakh the Miniature Decapitator, of course...

It's possible that other people can make good new eldar minis now that the key features are probably locked in on CAD, but Jes is truly the last word on the design of warhammer elfs that need ever be spoken.

I'd be in for some plastic mandrakes, obviously...

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

I find this highly plausible. IIRC there was a Rumour Engine pic a month or so back that looked very like a Mandrake blade.

This one here was it, I think:

Whilst it's easier to name the factions that don't use skin-cloaks in GW's many games, Nightlords are famed for their skinning:

You're not into gimp suits?

Mandrakes makes it a pretty much instant buy for me, but very curious to see what the Night Lords team would look like. Upgrade sprue to the Legionaries kit would be odd as there is already a Legionaries team in KT, so you'd think it would have to be something else because I can't see them duplicating the same team just with a different sprue of cosmetic upgrades. Maybe Chosen? The big weapon variety on that kit would lend itself quite well to Kill Team.

They will leak certainly a lot of shadowy stuff to show off GW´s sculpting techniques.
