Daaang that Assault Sergeant is next level, I'm saving him for reference when I do my Ultra Vires project.

Thank you for such a great compliment.

I greatly appreciate the motivation!

Sorry I think I'm actually offloading this stuff. I've just gone so deep in Dark Angels. All the other stuff I sold online already. :)

I couldn't bring myself to do that.  It would kill me to sell off the minis, then get the itch again and then have to start painting from scratch all over.

Ironically I have sold 4 very large fully painted Ultramarine armies. The first big one was to Minwargaming.com (youtube channel) And they wanted a very large refresh of their UM line. I then went on to sell 3 more that were all of the 'primaris' generation.  Two of them had Guilliman in them.

I'm now considering painting a 3rd Guilliman for my army. The fact is as much as people really rip into him, I very much like him. I think he's a tortured soul. But as far as primarchs go he's been so lethargic and over costed for so long. Now it may swing back but he went up in points again so I don't have that seem feeling as others that say he's amazing now. I used him on and off for a long time and still find that those points are just so valuable elsewhere.

Anyway, I decided to paint another one regardless of if he's useful or not.  It's going to take a long time and there are things I liked/disliked about my other 2 attempts so maybe I can have more success this time with the hobby side of it.

He's got 7A (Lethal Hit. Hit on 2's, reroll, wound on 3's, +1, -4 AP, 4 Damage) which will take out 90% of a Knight warden for less than 90% of a Knight Warden's points in one turn.

or:

He's got 14 S8 Hit on 2's Reroll, wound on 3s +1, AP -3 D2 Dev Wounds attacks.

As UM he always gets the buffed Oath rules (unless you're playing a super wonky specialty scenario vs Matched Play etc) and he will likely always be using Second OOM target + something so he's always going to be crunching on one OOM target or the other.

Its hard to argue with a points increase after he got a double buff.

Yea I'm looking forward to using him.

It's odd I haven't seen him used lately in competitive play. Part of me doesn't want to ... trounce my opponent (undetermined who I play) this week. But on the other hand I haven't used him in eons and I'm going to use a very pedestrian list with many of my favourite marine units. Some of which I always used with my UM but they got a boost. (IE: Heavy instercessors are in all my ultra lists.)

Thanks. I pretty much just finished painting him, so he's coming out.

I have some 'softer' stuff in the list so it should be okay. (I'd rather lose than clobber someone with him.)

Chances are you will clobber someone with him, but its going to be a skill or luck based not rule based clobber.  This is a wonky thought - I don't think people really analyze if someone is THAT GUY for bringing a given model, I think its a gut reaction and most people have a good "gut".  Guilliman isn't "cheap for his points" meaning he does a whole lot more than he costs, and he's not really an auto-take.  He's a theme choice so most people won't look down their nose at a Guilliman list - especially if the rest of the army has a Guilliman theme.

When I think of Guilliman theme - Bladeguard, Sternguard, HINTs and other Gravis, Terminators, named(s) and their wombo combo (Titus and Assault Intercessors or BGV, Sicarius, Tiggy and BGV, Ventris)  - Fluff wise it "feels" like Calgar and Guilliman have somewhat split the Chapter, and Guilliman has all but hoarded Tiggy, while he often uses Ventris as a messenger, Sicarius is the Captain without a Company now in charge of the Invictus Guard - 2 of whom follow Calgar around but the rest are often protecting Calgar AND Guilliman - and with Titus being "new" its easy to head-canon him going back and forth between Calgar and Guilliman for some introductions on the field of battle.

So while it would be less common to head canon Calgar with Guilliman, I could see it.  Tiggy says - you both need to be there, I have seen it (In which case I'd go heavy heavy into the Sicarius leading Invictrix Guard Company themes - or Guilliman sending Tiggy to Calgar for something without himself.  There are a lot of ways to make a Guilliman List that isn't going to make people think of a Guilliman Parking Lot.  Somehing that might but is still a fluffy headcanon could be Guilliman and a bunch of Dreads.  A "Moving Castle" of Guilliman + Techmarine + several Redemptors/etc both gives Guilliman (and the Techmarine) Lone Operative behind a screen of Redemptors+ and they've been advising him on the living history of the Chapter.   Put "First Born" Dreads next to shooters like Devastators, Desolators, Eradicators, etc. as other advisors with a separate role on the battlefield.   I'm sure you get the idea here.  I don't think you have to intentionally soften the list with Guilliman, just make it thematic.  He's good but not broken.
