I didn't think MTO was available to independent stockists?

(Barring specific exceptions like the 9th Ed Indomitus run)

No? I could have sworn blind that I've picked up MTO models from independents before, and now have to comb through my order history everywhere I use! >_<

If I am in fact wrong then obviously ignore!

Edit:

Only other example I can find is the Goff Rocker MTO from a 3rd party, so maybe you're right?

Yeah, I've seen MTO at independents.
They were full retail at the start, and I guess got reduced only 5%. I'm not sure they were even making money off them.

Mind you, this has been the only time I've seen it.

@pawl @JayJapanB

I suppose what I meant was that third-party stockists can't order them via their trade accounts to get them at wholesale prices; if for any reason they wanted them to stock in their stores, they'd have to order like regular customers through GW's webstore at full price, so they'd make a loss on them if selling them at a discount.

The giveaway is that they aren't listed on the retailer network price lists and order forms releases each Monday.

I don't think that's MTO, more like direct only items? 3rd parties don't (or didn't used to) get as big a discount on direct only items, or so I was told, and sold them at full retail, or only a small discount if they carried them at all.

MTO/Made to order, has only even been purchasable direct from GW's website - maybe 3rd parties get a smaller discount on that also. I believe there's a large discount on the standard monthly restock, but special things they order ad-hoc have a smaller discount.

Either way, I don't think the RT has rules in the codex, and I presume deathleaper will be priced as the new one so as not to compete. Weird choice.

The thing is though these were listed at the exact time that the MTO on Ethereals arrived for me.

And those models haven't been able to be purchased outside of that.

They were listed for the MTO price and they haven't been sold or restocked since.

This is also the only time I've seen that though, so I'm not sure what to think.

I'm happy to concede the point either way - in all honesty I think I was misremembering the number of mto items I've ordered from indie stores.

If it turns out that anybody is able to save a few quid then bonus points. If not then they can use the link for the LI box instead xD

The only MTOs that go via independents are newly tooled characters for an event or anniversary (eg, Goff Rocker, Red Gobbo, Warhammer Day Votann, etc).  Anything that is a rotation of an out of print kit is GW only and any shop would have to order as a customer not trade.

I swear 95% off your posts on B&C are just you pushing your affiliate links lol

I lurk more than I should and post less than I should, but a large part of that is because I get to spend so little time at the hobby desk - life commitments have totally killed my hobby time for the last year or so, unfortunately.

And a fair number of the links on the blog aren't affiliated (what little they make just pays for the hosting) - saving money or suggesting something useful has always been the primary focus. =]

Looking at them, I really like what GW has done with the Deathleaper to make him different from the normal Lictor, since the old model was almost identical but with 3 eyes instead of 1.

Poor Red Terror has sadly dissapeared from the lore and tabletop, but hopefully someday they decide to bring him back. Parasite of Mortrex became a playable unit in 9th so don't know if this happened GW will let him remain a unique character or a variant of Ravener/Trygon/Mawloc.
