Theyre VERY strong now, and you're in for a tough time.

Watch out for the terminator style unit, which has the same damage output (or more) as a Fire Disc. Aggressor bomb.

Also watch out for the Beserks - those mauls with 3D are ugly as.

If you're playing Gladius - make SURE you always have 2 CP on his turn, so that you can use Only In Death and at least not waste a unit, because with the tanky transpots, they will be getting to you.

This aside, I dont have any advice aside from tech-ing to kill vehicles. Centurians were my saving grace against Votann last tournament. I would also look to either Lancers or Thunderstrikes to help your DC infernus pistols and other shooty units out.

  • 2 weeks later...

I played 1500pts against LoV yesterday. I won 80 vs 50.

I decided to give Vanguard Spearhead and went with:

1 Lemartes + 10x DC IP,PF

1 SmashCaptain with BladeDriven Deep and 10x Sanguinary Guard with 2PF, 10IP

1 5x DC with IP, PF

2 3x Inceptors

1 5x Grav Cannon Devastator

1 5x Incursor Squad

2 5x Scouts

Following the tips I tried to use SG as much as possible to get it's transports stuck and use the scouts to block his scout move.  Since I started, he then scout moved away from my units creating a big blob of transports closed together. I moved my SG and charged the Hekaton, dealing some wounds and making it fall back. I armor of contempt the heck of SG in following turns, charging transports, and on foot units, killing two sagitaurs, a batleline unit and a thunderkin, but specially creating a huge problem for him in his deployment zone with the SG banner.

5x DC IF + Charge and Killed the Hekaton, dying later to Sagitaur fire. Scouts, Dev Squad and Incursors basically saw the fight at the distant, scoring secondaries and primaries.

Inceptors entered to kill a big unit of Thunderkin + Warlord with overcharged plasmas.

Lemarted finished two sagitaurs and killed a character.

I opted to ignore and "Calculated Feint" the Hearthguard once they arrived in the center of the board.

So, I was luck enough to have the first turn and terrible deployment for my opponent.

Sanguinary Guard with Infiltration is insane if you go first (I assume the same applies with DC) but multicharging units to at least keep then in combat. However I think it's quite expensive for such a distraction carnifex and predictable.

My opponent, with good reasons was very pissed, since it was an awful game since turn 1. That's the bad thing, going to aggressive and not create a good time for both players.

Anyways, League continues, I hope and we'll see what is next.
