I haven't ever seen it done on models. Most of the things I have seen hydro dipped have been larger than most 40K models although it might work for vehicles. Could look good for Harlequins perhaps but not sure what other armies would look good with that kind of effect.

It's not something I'd ever heard of (), so I did a little bit of Googling and found this:

Personally, the results they got don't look great on non-flat surfaces - I'd have thought spraying the model would have been a better time-saver.

Don't know if that's any help?

As mentioned above hydro-dipping looks best on large, relatively flat surfaces. There's also the pattern scale to consider. Most patterns will simply be too large, especially for infantry. If you're considering a Camo pattern, use a very small scale.

I had good luck using galaxy film on eldar and dark eldar vehicles.  I've seen some knights and even dozer blades that worked great with scenic films, but I suggest trying it out on other objects first. You'll also want to consider sub-assemblies.

Hope this helps.

Edit: Hopefully these images come thru and you can see how a boa constrictor pattern looks without touchups. You can see my galaxy vehicles in threads and galleries here at the B&C.
