Primarchs in transports 30k vs 40k

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t primarchs bulky 4 in HH?  So basically anything that can haul terminators can haul primarchs they just take up 4 instead of 2 slots?  Wonder why they aren’t the same in 40K.  Just imagining Lion, Asmodai, and a boat load of blade guard charging out of a Spartan.

I'd have to paint my rhino into a clown car to have my 40k Mortarion come out of a transport half his own size.

The only Primarch that would really benefit is Robute - and people have already been joking/asking for the ability count him as a Dread on the Storm Raven, or even a Dread Drop Pod.

think its a fair point that the loyalist ones should be allowed in land raiders at least, albeit using the same amount of space as centurions

I agree. The Heresy has made the Primarchs work a lot better than they do in 40k.

 

They should join units and ride in transports, and should be infantry. I think 4 spaces in a transport is fair.

Think demon primarchs it’s more logical they can’t ride in stuff, they’re so large and swollen with demon hood

Though that's a discussion for the Chaos forum. We don't worry about that when the only winged loyalist was killed.

Yeah it is a very odd decision imo.

 

I can get why daemon primarchs can't post ascension. But the 40k non daemon primarchs should be allowed to get in transports but take up the same amount as a centurion. They should also be allowed to attach to squads too.

It could be a game balance issue.

There's already a good chance you'd have to kill Guilliman twice. Give him a Land Raider shield that can also scoot him up the table? Shiver.

but wings are ok on a Chaos Primarch. Not exactly the same but still this is as bad as the whole Firstborn can’t ride in an Impulsor bullpoo … some things just need to be able to happen because … common sense.

I still think the plan is to give most/every marine chapter a Primarch or Primarch adjacent model.  Not my idea, but I've seen people suggest a super Dread made by Ferus Manus and/or Vulkan to lead the Iron Hands as an emergency plan, and Vulkan Hestan is about to find it.  I personally think the Blood Angels Primarch Equivalent will be some sort of Black Rage/Sanguinor thing to happen during the BA's next Darkest Hour made even more dire by the Nid invasion.   And beyond that, Corvus Corax might as well be winged - and may be by now after all the time he spent in the Eye.

My issue with the whole fiasco is that Primarch can indeed use transports like Landraiders in the lore. On the tabletop, Abaddon is literally the same size as Guilliman and the Lion, and can ride inside a Landraider alongside 5 other Terminators.

A similar issue - less relevant this edition but intenstly stupid last edition - is that apothecaries can't heal Primarchs.
