Damn, a soviet style scope mount compared to the Imperium using rails to mount their accessories? Goes to show how primitive the perfidious Tau are.  Jokes aside, fantastic work. Really love seeing stuff that brings back the style of Third Edition.

Alright, I'm back... the joys of hobby ADHD!

Ran another fantastic 3rd-A-Palooza this year in July, it was the 3rd War for Armageddon where I slapped togethere a super heavy tank company to use on a large apoc table which was an absolute blast!

Next year we've decided on the First Tyrannic War, so I've begun working on an 'air wing' Tyrnaid force.

But even more amazingly a local group of people have created a 3rd edition Slow Grow. Now my Tyranids for 3AP next year will not 'grow' very well into a normal list as it will have a pair of Harridans in it, I thought why not slow-grow the Tau that I started!

And with that I've now rattled together the frist Prototype Devilfish.

Much like the suits before it I've opted to try and ground the model with lift points etc. Now I felt if Battlesuits were guitting field-applied ERA, it would be madness for the Devilfish/Hammerheads not to also.

So the Devil Fish:

So to try and keep the design choices I've made with the Suits, I've added some hopefully logical lift points to the chassis and engines, swapped out  the burst cannon for a less rediculous looking sized one and added a sort of 'bump shield' around it. I've also put on some intake safey bars to try and stop a tau exiting the side door getting sucked into the jet engine just to their side and finally a good whack of ad-hoc ERA slapped all over it, I tried to minimise coverage, while still having any 'crewed' ares protected.

One thing I'm unsure of and would love some thoughts on, do I remove the front viewport and replace it with either a sensor packace or just fill in the era around it?

I like the additional bar on the burst cannon even if it's reminiscent of the one on Imperial assault cannons. It looks like the main weapon on some of the stabilized IFV turrets. Overall I think this looks pretty good. I'd probably keep the view port area as is, I've seen reference photos of field modified tanks and their ERA didn't cover every surface on the vehicle.

I think a sensor array would be fitting. Looking forward to more.

Thanks gang, I'll have a play around and try some options with the view port or sensors see what looks ok or not!

Pulled my finger out and rattled together my commander and his bodyguard.

I'm part of a 3rd ed slow grow down in my area so figured I'd work up from the smaller force and not bring the true, rare, crisis suits in yet.

Shas'El T'au Var'Ur and Bodyguard, equipped with repurposed XV15 Battle Armour.

May be an image of toy

Wanted to differentiate the Shas'El a bit more so had him with helmet off, surveying the battlefield and his on-base bodyguard equipped with an expanded communications equipment.

And a big shot of the posse together.

Anyway, hope you like them and if you see any glaring issues, sing out!

I really like the conversion work on the squad leader and his bodyguard. There's a bit of stray putty on the models like the bodyguard's communications array, but other than that it looks good.

Thanks mate!

That bit on the dish I think may be covering up a hole in the plastic haha, but they'll get a quick black overall prime and that will hopefully show up any errant, non-blended putty!

I don't mean the middle of the dish, I meant to point out the bit on the groove to the right. Have you tried Mr.Surfacer before? I recently got some and it can help cover up some nicks and scratches in the plastic. Works well on vehicles and flat surfaces.
