Sgt Chalbyth paused, seemingly frozen as if it took every fiber of his being to process the claim that Hadad had made.  When he snapped out of it, it was as if a different person was across from you; gone was the friendly slightly senior college now what faced you was the stone cold gaze of a hardened killer.

"NO. We have humoured your other outlandish tales of treason and civil war.  But if you accuse our father of being an oathbreaker then there is no other choice."  He looked specifically at Hadad, "You are unworthy to call him Father, to call yourself an Iron Warrior, to wear our colours.  It shames me to share blood with you."  He spit at Hadad's feet, the acid it sizzling on the ground for a moment.  His gaze shifted,  "And if the rest of you consort with such a cur, than I must assume you have also betrayed all that is true."

He paused as if assuming the weight of a heavy burden, "As the senior officer present, under the martial laws of the Imperium of Man....

Arazakiel

The exterior vox speakers of the thunderhawk flared into life, deafening even over its idling engines, voices both human and astartes cut across one another. It was the hawks black box recording as a thousand voices from ships captains to orbital lighters called out targets, vectors, and please for help, and perhaps most of all cries of hate and vengeance against the oath breakers.

Onboard Arazakiel stepped away from the control console and disengaged the safeties on his weapon as he marched towards the access ramp. Those who opposed the Emperor would not die in the comfort of ignorance.

Ravyx:

Ah, well.

The discordant data stream erupting about him, he pulled his helmet on and checked the seal.

Looks like we do it the hard way.

Thread Confusion!

Elvrit:

“NO.”

Even as Chalbyth spoke, Elvrit knew what was coming next. It was obvious. Expected.

“We have humoured your other outlandish tales of treason and civil war.  But if you accuse our father of being an oathbreaker then there is no other choice."

The Sergeant focused on Hadad, and Elvrit's hand dropped down onto Hvass’ plain hilt. He didn't say anything. No point any more.

"You are unworthy to call him Father, to call yourself an Iron Warrior, to wear our colours.  It shames me to share blood with you."

Chalbyth spat at the gunner’s feet.

Perhaps this was all inevitable?

The Astartes were not made to be negotiators. They were made to be killers… Had Horus’ rebellion been similarly inevitable? An inescapable conclusion? The thought filled the breacher with cold rage, even as the garrison commander's gaze shifted across Sul and Ravyx.

"And if the rest of you consort with such a cur, then I must assume you have also betrayed all that is true."

Chalbyth paused. All attention was on him. Bloody fool. Unwilling to listen to reason, unwilling to see and hear the evidence offered. Small-minded. Unable to even consider the possibility that his Primarch might have gotten it wrong. By such willful blindness, men like this Sergeant had allowed the whole rebellion to happen.

Now he dared to question their loyalty? Elvrit felt his growing rage focus into icy, hate-filled clarity.

Traitor.

"As the senior officer present, under the martial laws of the Imperium of Man...

A cacophony erupted from the Angels Thunderhawk. With one smooth movement of transhuman speed, the Iron Hand drew his blade and lanced out towards Chalbyth. He wasn't about to let the Iron Warrior finish his insulting denunciation.

The sergeant is surprised by the sudden burst out of the Iron Hand whose power blade carved a great line through his chest wounding him deeply, but leaving him still in the fight.

The assault marine surged through the air, reaching the gateway before the Iron Warriors can react, from what he can see the interior is mostly empty with effectively one big structure built into the back of the wall and smaller ones in each of the front corners.  The gate is wide enough for a standard pattern land raider to drive through it while the courtyard could hold probably 8 parked with minimal room to maneuver.

The Raven guard went wide, trying to get behind the Iron Warriors whose Mk III armour is far weaker from behind.

The Iron Warriors have 11 Initiative

Hadad

“Chalbyth, if you do not believe us then at least let us pass in peace. If we fight, regardless s of outcome, it will only strengthen Horus and the Oath breakers in the long run. Take time to consider the facts and evidence we have. I know it is a bitter taste to bear, many died on the Sands of Istavann struggling with the same disbelieve as the oath breakers slaughtered them.”

Spoiler

Initiative: 14 (Thanks for rolling BC)

Attempt to calm the situation, I am guessing a fellowship test of some sort.

Fel: 37

D100: 71, Fail... Well there goes that idea

With the assault marine rushing to the gate everything turned to chaos in a moment.

The other raven guard sprinting towards the gate as well.

A controlled burst of fire spat out of the Salamander's bolter, one round catching the Iron Warriors corporal in the chest, it found a relative weak point and staggered the warrior.

semi-auto burst, 1 hit, 8+10 damage rolled, righteous fury confirmed +4 damage, chest hit.  After toughness and armour 12 damage dealt

The Iron hand drives the sgt back with a blow from his blade.

Hadad backed away making one final attempt to salvage the situation, but the die had been cast, blood would be shed on this world.

Despite being caught somewhat of guard by the sudden shift in the astartes in front of them the Iron warriors reacted quickly.  The corporal and his partner both drew their bolt pistols and returned fire at the Salamander, one round catching him in the chest.  The sgt draws his combat blade and struck back at the Iron Hand slashing at his dominant hand, while the blade cuts through the armour there it fails to fully penetrate his enhanced skin leaving a thin trickle of blood.  The last Astartes sprays the open hatch of the thunderhawk with automatic fire but his wild from the hip shooting just scatters shots at nothing specific.

Ekene takes 9 damage after failing to dodge. [spoiler/]

Arazakiel

The roar of a prometheum fueled engine barely preceeded Arazakiels arrival as he flew down the thunderhawks ramp at a reckless speed in pursuit of the assault marines, ploughing through the fire and the ranks of the Iron Warriors without hesitation.

Manoeuver test: 38 vs difficulty 56  (-10 terrain, +15 bike) = Pass

Elvrit:

Elvrit uses Round 1 Reaction to Parry Chalbyth's attack with Power Sword.

Use Counterattack Talent to attack Chalbyth after successful Parry.
WS56 +10(Hatred: Traitor Legions) +10(Hatred: Chalbyth) -20(Counterattack) = 56. Roll: 40, Hit on (40=04) Head.

(Assume Chalbyth's Reaction for Round 1 was already used?)

Dam:
Power Sword Dam 1d10+6 +2(Crushing Blow) +2(IH:Solo) +12(SB) Pen6
5+6+2+2+12 = 27 at Pen6.

With cold disdain, Elvrit twisted his blade, turning aside the Sergeant's combat knife. Then, with servo-enhanced speed, he threw out a brutal riposte instinctively aimed at the soft ribbed joint beneath the Iron Warrior's armoured chin.

The Breacher's heart rate increased not at all. He was calm, controlled, following the battle protocols he had begun to establish on the Scion of Chemos and refined on the black sands of Istvaan. He almost pitied the Sergeant, trying to adapt to the idea of fighting against another Astartes... but not enough to offer him any quarter.

Too late, Olympian. You're already dead.

Ravyx:

Round 2

Legs still pumping, Ravyx kept going for the gatehouse, looking to get inside and secure it with Kraith. The noise of the bike warned of re-enforcements from Arazakiel. A  sudden, alarming spike in the biometrics showed Ekene had been wounded. His duty was clear.

He warbled a few notes to Kraith across the vox comms to signal trouble.

Then he hand signalled to Arazakiel to continue as he swept around, pivoting at the hips in an almost agile dance.

The Dark Angel's bike leapt out of the thunderhawk, landing several feet out from the open hatch.  The back wheel kicked out for a moment as it sought purchase, before roaring forward.  The Iron warrior spraying the thunderhawk attempted to dive out of the way, but it was so unexpected that he was not able to react fast enough.  Tossed aside by the impact from the bike the warrior was still alive though badly hurt.

Elvrit's counterattack strikes the un-helmed sergeant, carving deep into his skull, the foul stench of searing brain matter spreading across the battlefield as his body caves to the ground.

The apothecary turns and moves to the aid of his ally.

Elvrit:

Spoiler

Round 2 Action: Elvrit Charges Thorg.
WS56 +10(Charge) +10(Hatred: Traitor Legions) = 76, Roll: 58, Hit on (58=85) Right Leg
Power Sword Dam 1d10+6 +2(Crushing Blow) +12(SB) Pen6
8+6+2+12 = 28 Dam at Pen6

For a tiny fraction of a second a sense of unease, of the horrible wrongness of being responsible for the death of another Astartes, crossed Elvrit's mind as his blade slid out and Chalbyth crumpled. Then his lip curled derisively.

Weakness.

Thankfully, these moments of... guilt...? were growing shorter and less intrusive with each renegade he faced down. He hadn't been responsible for the Sergeant's death. The man had been a traitor and a follower of even worse traitors. Elvrit would kill as many of his kind as needed killing, which was all of them.

He turned towards the other two Iron Warriors still standing, Thorg and his companion, and moved to engage them. Not the headlong rush of the World Eaters or the Vlka Fenryka, but rather the slow, implacable steps of a Stormwalker. As he came near, the Corporal raised his boltgun to block Elvrit's attack, so he altered his swing, aiming low towards the weaker knee joint.

Hadad

The familiar weight and feel of Rain in his hand was a comfort, but little solace in the face of having to kill kin. These where no oathbreakers, not yet, just stubborn, as was the want of the Legion. Perhaps it was better this way, to die with honour, for surely they would become breakers if Father turned up and ordered them to his side.

Half Action, Ready Rain

Half Action, Aim (at relevant target, little lost as to where enemies are and which ones have not got friendlys in the vicinity)

Edit: Aming at IW with Bolt Pistol as per post below

Elvrit charges the now commander of the Iron Warriors, who manages to parry the attack, though it costs him his combat blade to do so.

The Salamander continues to fire, shifting to the Iron warrior beside the corporal, multiple rounds land hitting the left arm, but one fails to detonate.

the Iron warrior takes 10 damage

Currently the situation is as follows

Elvrit and the Iron Warrior corporal are in melee

near them Ekene and another Iron Warrior are shooting at each other from short range

Ryvax is beside Ekene

Kraith is in the doorway of the keep

Hadad is a few meters behind Ekene and Ryvax towards the thunderhawk

The other Iron warrior is on the ground after being run over by a bike

the dark angel is behind the Iron warriors on his bike.

[ooc] Kraith is up

Hadad is likely aiming at either the Iron warrior with a bolt pistol exchanging fire with Ekene or the one who was hit by the bike.[ooc]

Kraith

Kraith scanned the interior of the keep, his chainswords at the ready. He had reached the doorway before the gunfire behind him could be reacted to, so he would hold the position against any possible reinforcements.

inside the stronghold an alarm has started sounding but so far no other members of the garrison have responded.  Perhaps they are letting their comrades buy time so they can arm and armour themselves properly.

The corporal fires his bolt pistol at Elvrit but misses.

Ekene is fired at by by the other Iron warrior getting hit once.  He will take 20 damage with Pen 5 to the right leg if he doesn't dodge.

the last Iron warrior rises to one knee, firing a shot at the dark angel but also misses.

Arazakiel

Arazakiel pushed the bike to its maximum velocity knowing that once beyond the gates any internal augers would register his presence and perhaps draw those within away from any thought of sealing the compound or manning the outer defenses. He did not look back, he would kill all within alone if he must.

Double move, which Arazakiel can do while driving evasively

Ravyx (Round 3):

Like a sable missile, Ravyx cannons into Ekene, and takes him to the ground, assessing. Mid-humerus over-torsion of the biscopean lattice. Bruising and concussive distress of the second, third and fourth intercostal bundles, dislocation by 0.98 fractions from normal true of rotator cup. Cubitus distended 0.38. Laceration caused by bolt detonation at 0.99 proximity.

+Hold still,+ he called to Ekene, +this will be uncomfortable.+

He spoke truth with every word, as the long interface needles and cabling slipped free from the Narthecium.

Medicae Test:

Int: 54 + 20 (Narth) + 10 (Med +10) +10 (Med Talented) + 10 (Diag Helmet) = 104

D100: 23 PASS, Plus 8 DoS.

Heals 10 Wounds.

Analgesics injected into the deep tissue, spurring Larraman Cells into the wounds, where flesh had been rent open, the armour sealed the wound for binding. However....Ravyx jammed his arm into Ekene's armpit, gripped his wrist, wrenched with a slight crack of gristle.

+The pain will pass, brother. Please stop getting shot?+

He slid off the patient, Narthecium already cooling down, blades retracting.

Elvrit: (Round 3)

The bolt shell flew wide, exploding harmlessly when it finally ploughed into the ground. Elvrit snarled at Thorg and lunged forward with a flurry of quick blows.

Spoiler

Elvrit: Full Action - Multiple Attacks. Lightning Attack allows 3 Attacks vs Thorg.
WS56 +10(Hatred: Traitor Legions) = 66
Rolls:
1 - 32, Hit on (32=23) Left Arm (unless successfully Dodged?)
2 - 94, Miss!
3 - 57, Hit on (57=75) Right Leg (Dodge used)

OOC: If the first Hit is successfully Dodged, I might spend a FP to reroll the 2nd Attack so I've got a chance of putting 2 Hits in? But, for simplicity, if ok I'll wait for Thorg's Dodge roll before I decide? (or I start mucking about with Damage rolls?)

The corporal bobbed and weaved, drawing on his decades of experience as a veteran of the Great Crusade, avoiding as many attacks as he could from the power weapon wielding foe.  But he could only delay the inevitable and the third blow landed.

The Apothecary did manage to administer his healing before further trauma was caused.

And the Dark Angel joined to the Assault marine in the courtyard of the keep.

Elvrit, Hadad and Kraith are next

Elvrit:

Spoiler

Elvrit: FP Reroll of Attack 2: 39, Hit on (39=93) Left Leg (Dodge used)
2 Hits in total.

Power Sword Dam 1d10+6 +2(Crushing Blow) +12(SB) Pen6

1st Dam Roll:
9+6+2+12 = 29 at Pen6 vs Left Leg

2nd Dam roll:
5+6+2+12 = 25 at Pen6 vs Right Leg

Elvrit hacked at Thorg, the final blow a mighty horizontal cut that slashed across his opponent's legs just below the knee.
