Thank you for sharing more photos of these models. The colour scheme is really striking and the amount of love and work poured into these is apparent. The kitbashes and conversions work really well. I'm especially enamoured with the scouts; I like the creative use of extra bits (from an apothecary and an IG command squad?), the sawed-off shotguns, as well as the custom bolter of the 'sergeant,' i.e. the guy holding a scope in his hand.

I think that GW would like to make us feel that they're rubbish because they're small and don't have proper rules support and what-not but don't let them get you.

And don't let go of the army, I mean it :HQ:

Thanks!

If I remember right the scouts have heads from space wolves, blood angels and a guard sergeant. The bit that looks like an apothecary pack is a Cadian comm-link. Then some of the bolters have got silencers snipped from the scout bolt pistols and sniper rifles. There are also some random bedrolls or something that I don’t even know where they came from!

I didn’t like how all the ones in the kits had the same faces so got a bit inventive, and the custom bolters had to be done because 10th limited sniper rifles to one per squad (grrr). I’m glad you like them.

Oh don’t worry, it’s defo staying put now :)

You see, I could've bet that the heavy bolter guy has some bits from an Apo (searchlight + targeter).

I think that you can really be proud of what you did with the scouts in particular. These aren't models know for, well, being good :P

I just hope for the sake of us both that the old vehicles can be easily proxied in the future editions after GW gets rid of SM armour distinctions and limitations. And at this point, I'm quite certain this will be the case with the release of primarised tactical squads and removal of the primaris-firstborn distinction. That'll ensure that Razorbacks, Rhinos or Stormtalons (whose future I'm not so sure about) continue to be usable in a game of 40k.

You know what, you’re actually spot on! I was thinking I’ve never had a plastic apothecary but the bit in question is in fact an apothecary piece from the Grey Knight Paladins sprue. You sir, have most eagly eyes! One of the other guys has a comm-link.

Thanks again for the nice comments.

I hope so too. However, I’m not holding out much hope. There are some things that can be easily proxied, such as the jump intercessors which are basically just a bigger assault squad with very similar options. The tanks, however, have so many more/different guns that it’s not going to be so easy. I’d love to see them do what they did with the stuff in Leviathan and just up-scale the tacticals etc. and let us keep the rhinos, or update them. Doubt it will happen though.

For my Templars, I'm keeping them as a pure Firstborn force but with potential to stand in for newer stuff as datasheets are unfortunately retired. They're a bit different since there's still all the bespoke units like Crusade Squads with Neophytes (always how I preferred them anyways) and Land Raiders / Terminators are timeless, but even the few models I have that can't translate I still enjoyed modeling. While it sucks losing rules for models we've built and painted over the years, fact is you'll still have them and can be proud of your work. It's not perfect, but to me it's enough.
