Captain Idaho
I'm aiming for a themed Marine horde and have developed the following is. Not sure how effective it'll be but it ticks a lot of boxes for me: Quote Ultramarines List total: 1996 points Main faction: Legiones Astartes Formation 1: Legion Demi-company, 543points Legion Command Squad (1), 25pts Legion Tactical Detachment (12), 89pts 8 Tactical Legionaries 2 Plasma Support 2 Heavy Support Legion Tactical Detachment (12), 89pts 8 Tactical Legionaries 2 Plasma Support 2 Heavy Support Legion Assault Detachment (8), 54pts Legion Terminator Detachment (8), 80pts Legion Dreadnought Talon (10), 170pts 6 Contemptor 4 Leviathan Legion Tarantula Battery (4), 36pts Legion Demi-company, 538points Legion Command Squad (1), 25pts Legion Tactical Detachment (12), 89pts 8 Tactical Legionaries 2 Plasma Support 2 Heavy Support Legion Tactical Detachment (12), 89pts 8 Tactical Legionaries 2 Plasma Support 2 Heavy Support Legion Dreadnought Talon (10), 170pts 6 Contemptor 4 Leviathan Legion Deredeo Dreadnought Detachment (8), 165pts Legion Armoured Company, 915points Legion Predator Squadron (5), 185pts Legion Sicaran Squadron (2), 105pts Legion Kratos Squadron (4),260ptss Legion Sicaran Squadron (2), 105pts Legion Kratos Squadron (4), 260pts I think it'll do alright, particularly in objectives holding circumstances. The massed infantry won't die quickly especially if they can get into buildings. The vehicles are likely to be targeted by opponents which is sad but understandable. However, they're not designed to beat armies but target specific threats to me winning the game. Ultimately this is a themed list that is semi-competitive. I'm liking the feel of the list at the moment as is very old skool Epic. vadersson and Black Cohort 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/381832-2000pts-ultramarines-list/ Share on other sites
vadersson
I think I would be tempted to run the heavy support troops (missile launchers I assume) as separate support detachments. It will give you more ability to support from farther away. I like the plasma mixed in. not doing any support? I suggest at least a small Titan or Knight maybe. They tend to draw a lot of attention keeping the infantry safer. (Maybe…) Glad to see someone else playing Ultramarines. jaxom
On the flip side, Tactical Squads meat shield the Heavy Support? Captain Idaho
I can see the benefits to both concepts really. It's very possible I'll separate the Heavy Support squads into their own formation. Only reason I haven't is I'm concerned my Tactical Detachments lack offensive capacity at all and I'd always want shots on them rather than my armour. I'll definitely trial both. Oh, specific weapons not detailed, but the Contemptors HAVE to take 50-50 simply because that's what is in the box, but then some Kheres Assault Cannons will be useful I'm sure. Deredeo highly likely to concentrate on Plasma Carronades to highlight their killing potential, but I'll think more on that. I don't much need anti-infantry as much at present, after all! Sicarans might be utilitarian and have standard accelerator autocannons and lascannon sponsors, so I still have some options. Predators will likely be as many Turret Lascannons as in the box, with heavy bolter sponsons for utility. They're support units after all.
