Havoc Aspiring Champion Loadout Suggestions

The aspiring champion in a Havoc squad is mostly there for the extra wounds, but as the gear is free, just load him up with a flamer and a powerfist for the times if they get charged, and the overwatch. But any combination works, if the enemy is so close that you might get in to close combat, you probably already have sacrificed him already keeping the heavy weapons up.

When it comes to Havocs, mark them Nurgle, so you get the Sustained hits, and that they survive a little longer with the stratagem if you have the command points.

He didn't come with a power fist, only a power maul and chainsword

If you really like the look of the chainsword, just go with the chainsword. As Cpt.D mentioned, you'll probably kill him first anyway, and it's unlikely that they'll be up to much in melee in general.

For myself though, I made a "power fist" for mine by cutting off the one stabilising jet on the backpack and replacing it with one of the servo arms that the Missile Launchers come with. (I then used an Intercessor left arm - the one with the tactical display flipped open - but IIRC the Havocs kit comes with a bunch of "empty handed" left arms.) Back in 3rd servo arms were an extra attack with a power fist, so it reads like a power fist to me.

As to the gun, I went with plasma. It's got the longest range, so might be able to contribute to what you're shooting at with the rest of the unit. (And even if something gets in close, the plasma's two rapid fire S7/8, AP-2/-3, D1/2 shots probably do more hurt than a flamer's d6 S4, AP0, D1 shots, or the melta's one S9, AP-4, Dd6 shot.)

Does anyone have any suggestions on what weapons to give my havoc's aspiring champion for 10th edition? Im not quite up to speed with 10th yet. Aesthetically I'd like a melta or plasma and chainsword but variety would be good

The champions loadout will have zero impact on the results or your games so whatever looks best to you is what you should equip.
