I recently picked up two boxes of warp talons/raptors. I've decided to do one box as talons but I'm wondering if raptors have improved enough in tenth that it's worth doing a box as raptors instead for variety. I was wondering if someone who knows the current meta could guide me? And possibly suggest a weapon load out for them? I'm playing Alpha Legion if that helps

At the current points values, Talons are the clear winner. Lots of successful competitive lists are running one or two units of 5 with Mark of Slaanesh for the huge Adv + Charge threat range, but Raptors are nowhere to be seen. The points gap is likely to widen in the next update, but obviously nobody can guarantee that.

That actually doesn't mean anything right now. There's only one detachment for CSM in 10th, and even when the codex drops, the detachments will likely just be themed around the named Legions (like in the loyalist 'dex) rather than named for and consisting of the actual Legions themselves.

I have used both this edition and unfortunately in my games neither was around long enough to really see if they were decent. Either bad placement in one game or wiffing my rolls in the other game combined with a single sudden but amazing set of good dice rolls on my opponent's side. I will side with Warp Talons being better with my Night Lords(It only matters for my organization of painting right now) and keep the raptors in my IW and  try to use them as objective cappers. I prefer 10 talons though and not 5. I have learned weight of numbers this edition is important.

I've run 10 Raptors with Harken in a good few games this edition and they do pretty well into the right targets. Vs Power Armour, they're pretty bad without the Powerfist on the leader and Harken. Vs those weaker targets they're absolutely excellent.

The unit is great for pushing up a flank to take objectives, tying enemies up or doing actions. Harken is an excellent brawler and good character sniper too

As others have said, they're not incredible units but I've had good success with them
