crimsondave
For my Iron Warriors, I don’t use CSM Legionaries but the new HH MKIII with old MKIII heads and pads. I don’t want them to look too corrupted by chaos. I want to make some Chosen and Havocs out of a box of the new MKIII’s. I could use the new heads and pads to set them apart since I use the old style on the Legionaries. I figured I’d just buy a HH heavy weapons sprue for the Havocs but I’m looking for ideas on how to do the Chosen. Any suggestions? Xin Ceithan
Since you are going with the “ uncorrupted” vibe, I think the AM Kataphron kit might work. There are several sets of heads, 3 CyborgTorsi and several heavy weapons / servo arms here, along with some treads. You can cover a lot of icy parts your Legionnaires could away after the Warp got to them N1SB and crimsondave 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/381891-brain-storming-for-iron-warriors-conversions/#findComment-6008874 Share on other sites
crimsondave
That could work. Chosen would likely have hacked off more than the standard marine. Interesting. apologist
Can I suggest spiked shoulder pads and alternative heads? These areas form the most visible part of the Space Marine silhouette, so any changes here are more striking than elsewhere. Lore=wise, these are my veterans – I've used Master Crafted Miniatures' artscale ones for these, but they also do ones compatible with Astartes/Primaris: https://mastercrafted.co.uk/shop/infantry-components/shoulder-pads/standard/hefty-spiked-ornate-veteran-shoulderpads/ For heads, I suggest looking beyond the standard Iron Warriors upgrades (not that there's anything wrong with them, but a bit of novelty is eye-catching). Below you can see I've used a specific helm from the Blood Angels upgrade sprue – the narrowed eyes struck me as quite sinister and fitting for the Iron Warriors, and since it's a bit unusual, they attract a bit more attention. TrawlingCleaner
I went for a Breacher unit vibe for my Chosen, I figured the shields work for their 3rd wound pretty well and with their Accursed weapons they stand out pretty well. I see my Iron Warriors in a similar-ish boat to yours or their run-outs with Honsou and pals, they're not very corrupted by Chaos but still use some Chaos bits as tools. Although, as with everything Chaos, ultimately they're obviously still corrupted, maybe less out-and-out as other Legions I used Tortuga bay MK3 armour mixed with a load of different bits from my bitsbox, the shields are 3d prints I found on eBay: Spoiler crimsondave, Grotsmasha, Antarius and 4 others 6 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/381891-brain-storming-for-iron-warriors-conversions/#findComment-6009008 Share on other sites
Xin Ceithan
Sort of a tangent question for you expert kit badgers - which arms / shoulder pads do you use / prefer with art-scale bodies like those from Tortuga ? Regular CSM / Trueborn / HH or Primaris / TDA ? crimsondave 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/381891-brain-storming-for-iron-warriors-conversions/#findComment-6009009 Share on other sites

Regular CSM / Trueborn / HH or Primaris / TDA ? Primaris Infiltrator and CSM fit Tortuga bodies quite well. Not sure how Infiltrator arms would fit in terms of aesthetics, they have more of a Mark VI through VIII style to them. I've seen a lot of people use cleaned up Plague Marine arms for Mark II and Mark III suits. The discontinued Mark III arms also look right on those bodies. Agramar_The_Luna_Wolf
For veterans, it would be awesome see them with Iron Hands stuff, like bionic parts and so. Mix them with IW and some CSM stuff like weapons. The difference in firstborn and CSM/Primaris arm length is so small, you really won't notice Xin Ceithan 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/381891-brain-storming-for-iron-warriors-conversions/#findComment-6009198 Share on other sites

I ordered some 3d printed breacher arms kit. I always wanted to figure out a way to run breachers in 40k. Now they're chosen. Now I just need to decide on what heads to use. Thanks for the inspiration.
