Confession: I never read the Ghosts novels. Actually, I read very little 40k content. I consume the vast majority of it in audiobook format while driving. (Which is one of the biggest personal downsides of the way the Pandemic affected my job, I drive far less now than I used to, which while good for my back, has been bad for my audiobook consumption, but I digress.)

A few years ago now, BL has Toby Longworth go back to the beginning of the Ghosts books and record them, and he is outstanding in my opinion, he is, for me, the voice of the Ghosts, and despite the fact I very much want to consume all of the books, I have been assiduously only listening to them when BL release the next recording.

However, we are about to catch up with the point in the reading order where BL started to record Audiobooks as standard, and all of the novels after Blood Pact are already available in Audio Format, but only one, the last, was recorded by Longworth. The Warmaster and Salvation's Reach were both recorded by different voice actors.

So do we think BL will stop with Blood Pact and not have Longworth finish the set, or will they want his continuity throughout? I'm personally (obviously) hoping they have him do the whole body of work, and will happily wait for his recording of the last two, rather than have the actor change at such a late stage. I don't like it when they change the voice actor for a character mid series, (or even mid book in the case of one of the sororitas books I read!) I find it jarring and affects how I follow the characters.

They'll definitely re-record Salvation's Reach at the minimum (it was one of their first audiobooks and the narrator was heavily criticized for his dialect at the time), and I can't see them not re-recording The Warmaster, which predates the Longworth audios, considering they even re-recorded freakin' Damocles, half of which sucked and had no real relevance at the moment. It simply wouldn't make sense considering how popular Toby is, how much he brought to the presentation, and that The Anarch is one of his, too. So they'd be hopping from 12 Toby audios to James MacPherson to James Cameron Stewart (both of which never did anything else for them) and back to Toby for the finale.

Toby also did Titanicus and Double Eagle and Brothers of the Snake for them. Basically, if it is an Abnett Sabbat Worlds novel, Toby did it.

The interesting thing will be seeing if they'll record the Sabbat War anthology afterwards.

I did find it a bit jarring going from Longworth reading Brothers of the Snake to Myers reading Urdesh. I don't mind Myers, but it's a shame they didn't use Longworth there as well.

He's probably quite in demand though.

It's an interesting one. I'd imagine that if there were resources to allow it, and there were obvious demand (i.e. GW can see that it would generate them sales), then it would make sense for them to be re-done so the series has a consistent narrator.

The last two have appeared in quite short order, so I imagine we'll know by around March what the likely answer is.

How good is 'Only in Death'?!

I haven't listened to the audiobook yet, but I read it a while ago (at least 3 years ago, I think). I'll admit I can't really remember the storyline, but I know I've enjoyed all of the Gaunt's Ghosts books (I've read all 15 of them - the only Sabbat Worlds book I haven't finished is Titanicus). [apologies if I've misunderstood you]

No, that's pretty much what I meant. It's a very well put together package with a great book (probably my favourite so far) and Longworth doing a really good job.
