DC firstborn parts conversion.

Hi All,

Thinking of buying a first born DC kit to pimp out some Primaris DC.

Understand the pauldrons and heads are interchangeable? How about pistols, chainswords, powerfist and thunderhammer? Those heavy bolt pistols look big and don't want to use firstborn plasma/inferno postols if they aren't close to right scale.

Thanks and merry Christmas battle!

I've got a couple of FB chainswords and plasma pistols on my assault/jump intercessors, as well as FB power swords on my Intercessor sergeants. They all work just fine, so I'd imagine the TH would work too.

The heavy bolt pistols are indeed much larger than regular bolt pistols, so that one's on your and your opponents discretion. I think If it were me I'd eBay some HBP if I needed them.

agree with these thoughts.

I did a conversion of primaris sized sanguinary guard using the sanguinary guard kit and the assault intercessors kit combined.  the weapons and arms look fine.

So your only issue is likely the heavy bolt pistols.   Source those and you'll look totally good.

Most of the weapons are still in scale. Regular Space Marine weapons look great on regular Intercessor style miniatures. I find the Primaris plasma pistol a bit too long for my taste so I just use old Mars pattern pistols on most of my stuff. Don't have anything mocked up with a plasma pistol, but I hope this flamer model I bluetacked together as a test helps give you some sense of scale of Primaris with classic Space Marine weapons.

Here is a picture of an assault intercessor with FB Powerfist. Looks totally fine to me.

However, I would not recommend to swap just one arm. They can look a bit small in direct comparison and the armor style is different of course.

Thank you for that picture, that's exactly what I am going for!

If you hold up an Assault Intercessor Chainsword next to a firstborn, there's a noticeable difference.  Just gotta be consistent with what you're putting together and it's hard to tell any difference.

Or keep one guy in the squad with a AI sword to throw back to the beloved eviscerator.

here's some more comparison pictures.

Spoiler

Theres obvious BA chainsword from the DC kit amongst this, and both plasma pistols are FB. All the rest of the weapons on these minis are primaris.

The power fist in my hand is from some firstborn kit too (maybe DC, I don't remember).

so while there is a difference, it isn't really all that noticeable until you start looking closely. Or at least I think so.

However, I will admit that the primaris plasma pistols themselves are noticeably bigger than the fb plasma pistols, so if you're going FB with one, go FB with the rest too.

Transplanting a normal power fist to a Primaris arm right under the elbow would probably have the best proportions.

Thank you very much for this. Are they first born JPs as well? That's actually a tidy fit.
