I thought I'd give it a try and see how it goes, it's something that could be interesting if I can pull it of and sort of drives home the difference between Heresy Era and modern 40k. It's the kind of thing that Great Crusade forces would have seriously frowned upon, especially how Lucius used a Xenos blade known as the blade of the Laer and it wasn't seen as appropriate. This gives this guy a more brutal edge. I just need to get the second unit built now and then I will have a technically legal force and can crack on with the painting. I am looking forward to getting the new Mk IV and chucking them into the mix as well. Doghouse Posted June 12 Author Share Posted June 12 Little side step as I decided to make an Eldar Autarch. This is Ysarian, former Dire Avenger turned Autarch, who will lead Craftworld Elyndra. I still need to add some GS work to clean him up but want to avoid him being an Exarch, I also want to avoid them using bare heads as I seem to remember something back in 1st Edition that mentioned that a helmetless Eldar would be in danger of being overwhelmed in battle but emotion. The act of donning Aspect armour was a long ceremony as well so I want to retain these aspects of the lore. This guy is made from a modern Guardian with elements of the old Dire Avengers kit. I would like to include Dire Avengers but to be honest the kit is ancient now and doesn't hold up to the modern stuff in my opinion. I'm not sure if I will paint him in Craftworld colours or traditional Dire Avengers colours. I quite like the idea of a lone Dire Avenger having to take control of an Eldar warhost after the leadership is wiped out by Imperial Assassins. I have had to do a lot of cutting and trimming to get the loin clothes to fit. I wanted to add a back banner, but to be honest, I prefer the sensor and the sword. I still need to add the scope to the catapult.
