The beginning is always the worst value, because it's all the models you can get easily in starter sets which are already heavily discounted, and padded out with a lot of paints because genuine new hobbyists (i.e. the actual target audience) are starting from scratch. Big value usually comes later.

Sure Terminators on a single issue would have been great but £20 for 5 is still less than half what you pay for the standalone kit, so if you just want bodies (which I do) it's potentially still a good deal. In any case, what we "lose" there from it being 2 issues rather than one, you're gaining on the Parasite and Chaplain. Those two issues alone are saving you £40 or 66% off the RRP price.

Anyway, good of Fauxhammer to give us the heads up but god damn it remains one of the hardest to read hobby sites out there.

There's not actually any difference in terms of the Termagants themselves, it's just the standalone box comes with a weapon upgrade sprue.

Agree with all of this pretty much.

If you want to make sites like Fauxhammer easier to read, install AdBlock. It’s a massive game changer.

Have it, makes hardly any difference on FauxHammer because the ads are custom banners/images rather than from ad services, and a lot of it is literal text links to affiliates. Seems designed specifically to circumvent adblocking. Unbelievably obnoxious site.

If your browser has reader mode/view, put it in that. Makes it vastly better to view.

Thanks for the tip, tried that and although it is indeed easier to read, there is now no actual information

But good grief getting the Bike Chaplain in one issue is a mega deal.

It is although you could argue he is overpriced to begin with.

I am sure that the paint issues of Imperium came with 3 pots rather than 2.

Issue is if you don't have subscription is how easily you can get them. Not sure its worth the £25 from FP inc postage, when the multipart is only £34 - bit of a risk buying from a wh smith if you don't end up getting the subscription.

Will pick up another librarian if I see one, though again, not worth it with the postage on top (i don't need one enough)

Already have the Chaplain, but that's obviously a good deal.

Earlier ones did, but plenty of 2 paint issues after that

Is there anybody "In charge" of this thread? Just asking in case we can have the list of issues and contents on the front page like we did with the Imperium partworks. That was super handy for referencing

Black Knight used to run the old threads in Amicus. I can put one together if it's useful.

EDIT - New thread in Amicus for tracking the information and updates around Combat Patrol HERE

Looks like there's going to be some good things in some of the upcoming issues! It's just a shame that ForbiddenPlanet postage makes it less worth it than it used to be considering you now have to pay postage on each individual magazine type. I wouldn't mind waiting if there was an option to combine them and save on postage.

I tried to pre-order issue 5 yesterday when it came back in stock, and there was a few other things I wanted from their site, but it wouldn't combine postage despite them both being something that would have been dispatched likely today so they could have been sent together.

My Hatchett sub arrived today, issues 1 and 2, and the next one is supposed to be on 1st November...which is conveniently within the 28 days cancellation time. Well, played Hatchett, well played. Especially since I have to pay out of pocket to return them.

I saw that issue 5 had come back up on FP yesterday morning but dallied too long and they all sold out.

Instead I've ordered a few of the Tyranid issues for some Barbguants and Von Ryan's Leapers. They could flesh out my Leviathan box nicely. I fancy a Parasite of M when that comes up too.

I've not seen a single copy of Combat Patrol in my local WH Smith, they disappear too quickly.

Yep, figured that out a while ago. If you sub, you’re getting a minimum of 6 issues because you have to give 28 days notice so can’t possibly cancel before the second delivery. Very carefully calculated to stop lots of people just spending £2.99 for 2 issues and the free gifts and then cancelling.

Luckily I have uses for the stuff I'm getting in those issues (kids) though I'm contemplating keeping the sub till the end of the SM/Nid stuff as at least I won't have to enter the preorder gauntlet for the chaplain....though 40 Termagaunts in total might be overkill.
