Godammit Spell check, my immortal enemy!

Could be worse…it could have struck again leaving you with an immortal enema!

For me it will be a long wait until we get to the GSC portion of this. Worth the wait, though; GSC are an expensive horse army.

GSC is one of my big wants as well, looking at the way the premium kits work, they're going to be one of the last three to get released. Though it does look like they're getting paired with Guard, which could work out well looking at it from a Brood Brothers point of view

Can you subscribe for a limited run of issues?

I believe you can select which issue you start a subscription from and until it ends when you subscribe through newstand.co.uk.

I think I might look at that for the GSC period - I've got my codex was only looking at the combat patrol the other day. Something to look forward to in '25.

So after recent trips out I can confirm that the following shops near me do not stock Combat Patrol:

Tesco and Co Op in the village.  The Co Op, little Morrisons(?) and I dependant 'cheap shop' in the next village.

In town, the 2 'proper' Tescos, Asda, the 'proper' Morrisons, M&S (thought that was a stretch but I was in there!), Sainsbury's, and WH Smith's (this one was a disappointment)

Looks like I'm forced to fight it out with the online crowds! I've already missed the limited ed model though, so I don't fancy my chances!

Most shops don’t stock past issue 4 of this - that’s the point at which the full subscription gets going. If you start the sub after issue 4 you don’t get the additional free gifts. Also because of the sale-and-return that was mentioned earlier in the thread. The Morrison’s near me did stock it, but from 5 onwards it’s no longer there.

Haha got my issue 7 today. Enough parts to make 6 gaunts… but no bases! So you need to have issue 8 to build anything.

Very sneaky hobbitses …

Should Issue 7 come with bases or are they in issue 8?

Cheers

Vogon

Since they have just halved a box of stuff, the bases are in a bag, so they would come with a specific issue:yes:

It will be the same where every kit is split into multiple issues.

But some gaunts for 22ish doesn't sound like a great deal:ermm:

I don't know if it's on a store by store basis but the big Morrison's near me has a couple of issues 7 in currently.

I am trying to decide how many terminators I really need.....

Gut instinct is at least 2 sets
really tempting to add more or at least extras of the 3 body issue to use with spare bits for other heavy weapons etc

I think what I need to do is set myself a goal. Building and painting at least either 1 squad from the DWA box or the terminators for Leviathan before I buy any more.

Well, 100 to field the entire first company of a chapter at least.

Did issue 7 come with the gaunt special guns at all, or just the same sprues as leviathan? I think that was the first model set that was poor value for me - the kit is ~£22 or so from 3rd party sites and comes with the extra weapons.

I think they are Levithan, I don't think the terminators come with the extra weapons either?:ermm:

Happy to be wrong thou:happy:

Please say I'm wrong........

@Xenith alot of these issues seem to be very questionable value, like two paints:furious:

Unlike the Termagants, the Terminators with the extra options (Chainfists, CML etc) are a completely different kit. The image on the back of the magazine clearly shows the single-build ones from Leviathan and the Starter sets, so no chance there.

All 4 previous collections have been like this; big savings on character issues, some of which is clawed back by paint issues that cost you more than it would to just buy the paints outright. Almost nobody would buy them as standalones but as part of the whole subscription - even though they drag the savings down a bit - they're essentially free:

  • RRP of model kits = £1306 (which is the low-end value, based on you buying complete Combat Patrol boxes where those are still available)
  • Cost of all 90 issues = £889
  • Savings  = £417 or 32%, plus you get all the paints/brushes/etc on top

Also remember if you subscribe, you can just return any unopened issues that you don't want for a refund.

I had no idea about this bit. That moves the needle on value quite significantly.
