hd3
After a marathon session of gluing and assembling, I got a bit tired and some extra gorilla glue leaked out over the side. What's the best way to remove the extra glue without damaging the model or the bonds? Or should I just grab the rattle can and spray paint over it? tychobi
Scrape off any chunky lumps and paint away. Should be unnoticed under there Firedrake Cordova 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/382025-how-to-remove-or-cover-up-spilled-super-glue/#findComment-6013251 Share on other sites
Daimyo-Phaeron Lenoch
I don't know how well this might work on non-transparent plastic (or whether it will at all) but I got superglue 'fog' off of a cracked Stormtalon windscreen with qtips and some vaseline. Could give that a shot, otherwise, hobby knife/moldline scraper and a file is my best suggestion. Corswain
Yeah, I've just painted over that before - no problems. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/382025-how-to-remove-or-cover-up-spilled-super-glue/#findComment-6013267 Share on other sites
Sky Potato
https://www.vms-supplies.com/glue-remove-debonder I got some of this stuff after a recommendation from this forum. It’s awesome, works really well. Super glue residue just wipes off after it’s been left to soak. It’s completely safe over polystyrene and it didn’t react with Forge World resin when I tested it - I dunked a resin gate in a small tub of this for 24 hours, with no reaction. Superglue “fog” is fine to just prime over and paint, but the glue debonder will take care of anything more substantial than just the “fog”. The fog is caused by the vapours of the glue drying reacting with the moisture in the air, FWIW.
