Pearson73
Two cracking models, the whip is very cool and the story of Alberic is a nice twist. I hope you play him as a more brutal instrument on the battlefield, so as to match his temperament! Yes I think the plan is definitely to run them together, so Alberic will be making all the Challenges and cutting down squad sergeants etc. both to preserve Hyperion but also so he doesn't have to sully his hands with lesser foes. Brother Kraskor
+++Retinue+++ VI Millennial Command Bodyguard Though the 3rd Legion typically favoured speed and grace over raw power, it still maintained a healthy stock of Cataphractii plate. Lord Commander Thorn was particularly fond of a brutal frontal assault, supported by the more traditional, mobile elements that the legion was famed for. Brother Kraskor
Decided to (badly) photograph the VI Millenial in its entirety now. I really should play some games! Appropriate that they fit into six photos I think. Corswain
A lot to love here but Fulgrim (appropriately) has to be the standout. Great to see him in the wild and your scheme looks great on him. That appears to be the 40K kit mixed into your assault squad, right? How does it fit? I've been considering an Emperor's Children army based around the 40K kits. I've been considering an Emperor's Children army based around the 40K kits. Very kind! It is the new 40k EC mixed with Mk10 yeah, I would say it definitely creates some different body shapes, the EC are taller but the jump packs help to even out the silhouettes. If the Mk6 were stood tall (rather than leaning forward as a lot of them are) it would be even closer. The mixing of arms/heads/weapons etc. was very easy. Stood right next to my old Mk3/4 there is a fairly noticeable difference, but I reason that on the tabletop they're not going to be a mixed unit, and that is true of new Mk3/6 next to old Mk3/4 anyway. If you are starting fresh though you bypass that entirely - I think it would make a great army mixing new 40k with new Mk3/6. I've also wondered whether the new Noise Marines could be used as a base for converting to terminators, haven't seen any in the flesh for size though. Hope that helps! Pearson73
Aye that's a gorgeous force, looking forward to seeing some close ups of the new assault squad. I bet the new 40k kits are a treat for traitor players such as yourself! I bet the new 40k kits are a treat for traitor players such as yourself! Yes and no! On the one hand it is an absolute treasure trove of bitz, and I think it works and blends with the newer marks. On the other hand, I now wish my entire force could have benefited! So I am going to end up with this mix of some units looking very standard, and others looking much more unhinged. I suppose that inherently reflects the chaotic nature of the legion at that point anyway. +++Troops+++ Assault Squad As the Heresy marched on, some formations fell to the seductive influence of Slaanesh faster than others, particularly those involved in the thickest of the fighting. Even within the same company, captains found they had to strike a sometimes delicate balance of indulging their most decadent, whilst not affronting their more reluctant. This period would not last forever, however, as the inevitable decline came to all in the end. +++HQ+++ Captain-Palatine Scralick, designation 'Moritat' Even before the heresy, Scralick's methods were deemed questionable at best, downright underhanded by most, and even illegal at worst. His rise through the ranks of the legion was not particularly marked, but his progression in the Palatine blades was astonishing. He specialised in the phoenix spear, and there was no level of unsportsmanlike conduct he would not stoop to in order to beat his opponent. Though he was abhorred and revered in equal measure for his talent in a duel, it was his behaviour against the Imperium's enemies that truly marked him as a pariah. Unafraid of using shunned weaponry such as rad grenades and a pair of plasma pistols, he was one of the first to volunteer for Fabius Bile's xeno-implant experimentation. The early technology was untested, and cost him much of the front of his face and throat. But now he makes such fine music as he scours his enemies with radiation, plasma fire, and spear. Thought I would also add some size comparisons below to hopefully help anyone else thinking about mixing new 40k kits with 30k EC: I think the twisted body (second from left) is the most out of place, but not too bad. The bulky Mk6 jump packs save them a bit I think. With older Mk3 and Mk4 it's a bit more marked. Will just have to keep them away from each other on the battlefield! ... but of course all pail in comparison to the Pheonocian! Brother Kraskor
+++Elites+++ Phoenix Guard, Sixth Cohort Despite their objectively heroic last stand on the world of Tarsus, Fulgrim still viewed the utter destruction of the Phoenix Guard as evidence of their imperfection. As he inched closer to his final fall to Chaos, his interest in reforming the legendary unit was almost non-existent. Despite this, and only on a whim, he approved Lord Commander Thorn's request to restore the Phoenix Guard. Though applicants were wary at first, the lure of the Guard's glorious past finally outshone the stain of their failure, and the formation returned to fighting strength as the Heresy went on. Even after the Phoenix Guard fell completely out of favour with Fulgrim, once he took his daemonic form, they still served as an honour guard to Lord Commanders and other high ranking 3rd legion officers. +++HQ+++ Knight-Captain Bellephorous Though the Emperor's Children were almost entirely devoid of psykers after the Edict of Nikea (incidentally making them entirely unprepared of the threat posed by the Laer Blade), its warriors increasingly felt the call of the Warp as it slid further into corruption. Knight-Captain Bellephorous, once merely a skilled swordsman and ranking Captain in the VI Millennial, awakened to his psychic potential after Fulgrim's ascension in the Eye of Terror. Through encouraging indulgence in base instinct more than any kind of formal teaching, he formed a cabal of other newly reborn psykers, inflicting terrible losses on the loyalists with torrents of warpflame. Lord Commander Hyperion Thorn, Prince of War, VI Millennial Thorn possessed a number of weapons, choosing whichever took his fancy to take into battle. Sometimes he bore the fearsome longsword he claimed off an Imperial Fist - other times, he wielded a paired thunder hammer and phoenix spear. No matter what mood he found himself in, he was always deadly. Brother Kraskor
Thanks both, very kind! +++Heavy Support+++ Improvised Predator-class tank As the Heresy progressed, supply lines became increasingly strained. The VI Millennial found itself needing to repurpose scavenged vehicles as the pace of conquest continued to exceed logistical limits. This vehicle was initially designed as a Mars pattern Rhino transport, serving in the Xth Legion. When it was recovered by the Emperor's Children, they discovered its power source had been augmented far beyond the demand required for a simple transport. They decided to shackle this overpowered chassis with an experimental, xenos-derived conversion beamer turret, a devastating energy weapon, as well as retractable lascannon sponsons, designed for the confines of urban warfare.
