I forget sometimes still that Detachments are one-per-army. I guess more of my playing experience still comes from pre-8th edition. At least with abilities baked into the datasheets you don't lose out on everything when taking DW in a RW Detachment, though I'm not sure there's much sense in taking RW in the DW attachment.

You lose out on being able to support anything that isn't part of the det flavor.  In the Ravenwing Det all Enhancements, and the 5 Det Specific (i.e. the 5 in any Det that is not AoC) require the Ravenwing Keyword.   Its most likely why you'll see the combi-wing armies use a Core Codex Det - probably Gladius.

I saw a video about the points before seeing the actual points. I thought it was a joke or inaccurate. 

 

Back to UM. This is absolutely asinine. I won't tear it apart, there's a lot of stuff out on the interwebs that already has discussed this stuff. But for myself, I will be holding off on buying anything/painting anything going forward.

We need to consider this next to the first Votan Codex.  This is at least as badly balanced if not worse.
If a few major tournaments would consider keeping the Index legal, GW would listen.
